Yup,most counties only play two or three champo games per year.Compare this to rugby and soccer where domestic teams play almost thirty games a year in tournaments (and none of these tournaments are played down like the league is played down in our games). The league is a great opportunity for the Gaa to give less successful counties a good run of games (thus promoting the game) but if teams arent too worried about winning it,well, opportunity lost.
Cant really think of anything the Gaa can do to change this though.

it be interesting to see if the league was done as 4 divisions of a,b,c,d and randomly drawn and the top two in each division went into quarter finals
if you had games such as dublin v longford in pearse park it might have abigger attendance for longford or kerry travelling to sligo

It wouldn't be much of a league if it's 4 random groups. What you've described there is essentially a championship. The league as it is is fine. As I've said many a time, if the GAA wanted to give it an added edge, simply use final league placings to determine seedings for qualifier draws.

If it was four random groups though legend an advantage would be that the weaker teams get to play some of the stronger teams pre championship. As it is the weak teams play the weak teams and the strong the strong, thus argaubly giving them an extra advantage come championship time. Its also the only way many of the weak counties will ever get a chance to play the stronger ones
Id agree though that if they could provide a concrete incentive to doing well in the league like seedings in the championship or something it would be a good move.As I said Im not to sure what there is to do though. In fairness to the Gaa its a tricky one.

how is it a championship the championship is completly differant you dont play every team in your province and the you dont get pints for a win.
your thing with final placings being seeded means nothing to attendances though and thats what the point of the thread is about league attendnaces
