I agree with Doublehop. People forget where Kildare were before McGeeney came in. In 2007, they were probably as low as they had been in about 15 years. Plus they are too harshly judged on their failure to beat Dublin in Leinster and some narrow defeats in the All-Ireland series. No doubt about it, Kildare a serious contender for anything they play in. I would say they are light years ahead of Meath too. Unfortunetely.

On the subject of fitness, 99% of intercounty players are fit. No Kildare player is that much fitter than his Meath or Dublin counterpart. The difference with Kildare is that they have an incredible desire to win. It sells them so short to say they are "fit".

Conflicting information on this today. http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sport/2012/0223/1224312243654.html New twist in Johnston transfer saga
THE PROTRACTED Seánie Johnston transfer saga looks set to lie in the hands of the executive committee of Cavan county board once again, following Tuesday night's hearing on the application.
The Central Competitions Control Committee quizzed the former Breffni captain about his permanent residency, and members of the panel were presented with a number of documents as evidence that he was living in Straffan.
These included confirmation that Johnston held a utility account for the address he is giving as his home, as well as a tenancy contract with his landlord.
As a result, the committee has opted to return the matter to Cavan board, as it is they, rather than Johnston's club, Cavan Gaels, who questioned the 27-year-old's permanent residence and whether a transfer to St Kevin's and Kildare would be within GAA rules.
Speaking after Cavan's management committee decided not to sign the transfer form last month, county PRO, Declan Woods, said they had received no evidence to support the fact that Johnston was living in Straffan.
"As far as we're concerned, the Seán Johnston that we know works full time in Cavan and lives in Cavan," Woods stated at the time.
Having received evidence to the contrary, the committee is referring the matter back to the Cavan executive for comment.
If this is the case, I don't undertsnad why it would be dead in the water as he has produced what was aked of him. Why is he back with his old club now? This whole thing is an absolute farce!

I can't see the Cavan county board granting his transfer doublehop. I'd imagine they are going to stick to their guns on it. Can't see a reason why they would change their opinion on the matter and grant the transfer

According to him it would be impossible for him to live in Cavan yet train in Kildare, yet now he's training in Cavan while he's supposedly living in Kildare? I think he's beginning to realise he's been found out.

I have expressed my feelings on this many many times and they have just been proved right
He is back training in cavan gaels while supposedly living in kildare. But said he could not do it other way around? I think all parties in this should hang there heads in shame in particular those who by all accounts actively pursued seannie j This leaves a very bad taste in mouth. We are not professional organization that you can try to poach players from other counties Hope this is end to it but I doubt it.

Cavan GAA PRO Declan Woods has previously stated that Cavan would not attempt to deny Johnston his transfer should he be able to legitimately prove his residency in Straffan.
However, Woods subsequently outlined that the Breffni County's role in this particular case is finished and that the CCCC are now the ultimate decision makers.
"As far as we are concerned, we have no further role in the control of Sean Johnston's transfer," he told the Irish News.
"Contrary to reports, we never even had to sign the transfer. The transfer form came to the Cavan County Board signed by the player, the Kildare County Board and the St Kevin's club.
"A two-line note was attached which stated that, unless we had an objection, the transfer would go through automatically within 10 days.
"When we saw the transfer application, it was the first time it had been presented to us that the player wasn't living in Cavan. As far as we all knew, he worked in Cavan and he lived in Cavan.
"As a result of that, we felt it would be wrong of us not to question that. We didn't look for proof, but we don't need to look for proof because we are not the governing body of inter-county transfers.
"We simply informed Croke Park that we had an issue in relation to his permanent residency in Kildare.
"We would contend that our role is now over. Our feeling is that it is now a matter for Croke Park. If Croke Park is satisfied, then we have no difficulty whatsoever. Because, if Croke Park is satisfied, then we feel it is under rule and everything is in order.
"We have no axe to grind. It's not up to us to counter-prove anything, if the governing body is satisfied then we have no issue." Quote from the examiner it seems to me nobody want to make a decison on this, croke park are backing cavan county board into a corner now so it drags out for longer!!..just typical of croke park couldnt make a decision on replay of meath and louth 2010 had to throw it back to meath county board they seem to hide away from anything remotely difficult.. yet there quick enough to roll out 5000 euro fines and strip monaghan of a home game(another crazy decision) do they know what they are at all.

Beyond a joke at this stage. Causing more hassle than it's worth it would seem. If he produced what was needed of him then there shouldn't be a problem in getting forms signed and getting his transfer passed. Who knows what he was thinking though by training with Cavan Gaels, but it would lead me to think he's abandoned plans of playing with Kevin's.
Somebody needs to come out and give a bit of an explanation as to what is actually going on.

Theres your answer royaldunne. He was a Kildare man all along and now the prodigal son is return home. Perfectly normal in the end. Or is it his new home now?
