1106239 PS - on my previous post, I wish people on this forum would refrain from paying sooo much attention to soccar and rugby, this is a GAA forum, end of.....
Well said Molly. Sick of gobs****s using a GAA website to gloat about other sports.

Real Kerry Fan.... Would you stop attacking the 'us' and 'we' brigades. They are more to be pitied than anything else. Don't puncture their illusions about their virtual teams.... they follow teams who they never see in the flesh, their teams never play a home game and for some reason when their team wins anything they never bring the Cup here either? How would you like to be sentenced to such an existence believing that you can go into Elverys, spend a couple of hundred euros and come out the door a fully-fledged REDCOAT of one kind or another? The familiarity with the unfamiliar !!!!!!!

Well I got that one wrong! Like all my other bets this weekend :-(
Was raining all day which I would imagine knocked a fair bit off the potential attendance. 46,000 is not bad all the same. Worrying thing is that even with the lower entrance fee there are still a huge number of people for whom a Saturday night out at a match is no longer within their means. Even with the large crowd there was very little atmosphere around and few in the pubs. Changed times.

As one who was at both Croke Park and Lansdowne Road (with an interlude in the Cobblestone in between) I have to say that I saw nothing in Lansdowne Road to match either of Tyrone's two goals. But I am being subjective.

The league only gets going towards the end when you have good weather and promotion/relegation spots up for grabs. It's a bit much to be expecting a hugely entertaining game on a horrible cold, wet February night.

reading some of the posts about dublin not been the best team in the country last year and been lucky to win the all ireland is ridiculous dublin lost won much last year between league and championship and beat kerry twice, cork once and lost by a point after been 8 up,beat tyrone by 7 points, beat kildare, beat donegal in the semi final.they are the 5 teams along with dublin who are in the running for sam again this year so if we beat all them in that year you cannot say dublin were not the best team in 2011. going by a league match in 2012 is unfair to comment on relation 2011 season.on the fact of people writing dublin off already is madness if you train 40 times in a month your bound to feel the effects and its clear to me by team selection and guys he brought in that gilroy views the league as making the semi finals in any spot 1,2,3,4 doesnt matter and then they will step it up from there as it seems pointless in trying to finish 1st theres no benifit in doing this. last year dublin trained hard through the leinster championship with a view to peaking in the all ireland quarter finals and so on and it worked as they didnt set the world alight in leinster and i would imagine the same method is being used in the early stages of the league

As someone who was at both Pairc Esler and Landsdowne Road I have to say that any game you actually go to is an infinately more engaging experience than one watched on TV.

on a note on the rugby yesterday why is it that nobody has slated the irish crowd for booing the wales kicker at the end the whole ground seemed to be doing it yet when the hill does it theres an outcry at least we are consistent we do it for all frees unlike the rugger crowd who pretend to be sporting untill it comes to a last minute kick

To be honest I didn't pay much heed to the booing Saturday night, I doubt the players do as well. As for the rugby, I don't care much for the sport but it was hypocritical of the Irish supporters to boo the Welsh kicker at the end, so much for their high and mighty attitude. they only give respect when it suits them.

The only sour note in Croker on Saturday was Fennels red card, he seems to be determined to end his inter-county career, can't see Gilroy picking him again, deservedly so, a shocker. As for boo'ing kickers EVERYONE does it, no matter who or where they are.

46,000 is a great turnout for a league encounter in any circumstance
Although it would appear the general consensus is that that half time entertainment failed to please the other night
To be honest I always thought the idea of commercialised half time entertainment at a GAA game to be bit weird. The only place I've ever been in Croker at half time is the bar. now Jedward and all these flavour of the month pop ponces are in the middle now as if it were Ireland's version of the Superbowl - it's a far cry from some country singer from one of the participating counties singing at half time all those years ago
But that's just an opinion, not a judgement call as I've never seen half time entertainment in Croker
Irrespective of who's 'performing', is it better with or without this half time entertainment?

Agreed. Everyone complained about the Donegal and Kildare game last year but it was the best game I have ever been at that didn't involve Meath. Truly epic stuff and it was extremely nail biting.

Dont know why im replying to such a petty, childish, immature remark but grow up! Are you really that immature? Cant believe the attitudes of some here who nearly want irish sportspeople to fail when competing against international opposition.

Cute Kerry Hoor, where are you getting Irish rugby supporters 'high and mighty attitude' from? You speak of it as if it were something tangible you can put on display
Anyhoo, I can honestly say in every game I've ever been at, be it GAA, Rugby and Soccer, I have never booed a player or opposition, I just don't like that sort of thing
As for booing at the GAA, every county does that, not just the Dubs
As for Sunday's rugby, I would tend to be somewhat more defensive of rugby fans - you will never hear the crowd fall silent for a kicker in GAA as you would in Rugby. As for Sunday itself, there was very little in the way of booing the Welsh other than that last penalty (and perhaps the spear tackle where that Welsh guy should have been sent off) but I've watched a lot of Rugby over the years and it is very traditional that when a penalty taker is about to take a kick which will decide the outcome of the match, that Rugby fans let loose and the boos come out as was the case on Sunday.
I'm not trying to defend it, I was disappointed to hear it to be honest, I don't think Irish rugby fans are commonly guilty of that, nonetheless, it exists all over the shop in Rugby as a whole
But at the end of the day, booing by opposition supporters will always exist at every field sport in the world. To what extent it does across particular fans or particular sports will always be a matter of debate, but that debate in my view is a little pointless because it exists everywhere
People should acknowledge that instead of pointlessly using this argument to promote GAA over Rugby or vice versa, as the issue exists in both of them just as much as there are booers everywhere in GAA, every county, every game

they have changed it this year the rubberbandits played between both matches and not at half time instead they had a man from the charity suicide or survive outon the pitch getting the crowd to do various things to highlight there cause which was much better recieved and got the crowd involved then the rubberbandits who by any means should have at least toned down the song horse outdie like the version for radio thats toned down but i suppose dublincounty board should have made them is another way of looking at it and could put familys off unlike last year were jedward were a massive success with familys has to be said. anyway will be looking forwrd to the entertainment at the donegal match as its supposed to be the dubliners playing at least they be good haha
