Great team, but surely not up there with the 60s team

Hold onto your horses there Liam.
There are 3 big guns out west here.
And Sligo and Leitrim.

Jaysus Wayno your getting as bad as MesAmis now for talking your own team down!! Your falling into the Holymoly gang, the lads who say all the nice things all the self depreciating things so the "culchies" wont label you as a typical arrogant jackeen!!! I used to do the same thing to be honest till I realised no matter what you said there are lads out there who will see you such no matte what you say!
Man up Wayno!! its much better craic :)

Regarding the Dubs Galway/Mayo....

Some great history there lads regarding 1985, the Mayo Brogan etc! Love that kinda stuff! Road, I always give Galway a shot. I dunno is it down to tradition or what, but at the start of the year, no matter what has gone before, if you ask me the teams in the running I would always include Galway. Ye have something about ye and I'd say if ye got 2 good results back to back it could make all the difference. Always so many classy players. Fingers crossed for MM.

It really is mad to think we havent met ye since 83 to be honest!!! Padraig Joyce and Michael Meehan could well retire having never played against the Dubs in Croker and I honestly think thats a shame for them. Ditto Sean Og, The Donnellans, Ja etc.

I'm telling you lads.

Lump on Galway this year!!!! Mulhollands revolution starts on Sunday and all roads lead to Sam!!!!!!! :-)

Ok, maybe i'm being a tad optimistic but sure why not, new manager, new start, new team with some great young players coming through. Stranger things have happened.

It is a suprise though that we haven't met the Dubs in the championship for so long. I suppose in our late 90's early 00's peak the Dubs were in a bit of a downward spiral but it would have been great craic to meet the Dubs around then. Ah well Padraig will still be around when we meet in August/September!!!!!

Am I correct in saying that the only teams Galway have played and beaten in Croke Park in Championship football since 1983 are as follows?

1998 - Derry and Kildare
2000 - Kildare
2001 - Derry and Meath

No, you're incorrect. They beat Cork & Armagh too.

Thanks Pope, I had a feeling they beat Cork and Armagh somewhere along the line.

Why??? Im sure they'll get over it. It's not that big a thrill ya know. The likes of joyce, donnellan, sean og have 2 all ireland medals in their back pocket, more than any dub of the same era. And im sure meehan's biggest concern is getting back fit firstly and then trying to win a few things, not the great "experience" of playing the dubs

I stand corrected. Just reading an interview here with padraig joyce where he states he would gladly swap his two all ireland medals for the opportunity to face dublin just once in croke park. He goes on to state that "sharing the same arena as a dublin team is the biggest honour any player can achieve in the GAA" I was wrong

Whiterbananas do you not know the whole GAA world revolves around Dublin???? Have you never read the Evening Herald?

Am I right in saying that Kerry beat Mayo quite a few times in the 2000's? Am I right in saying that a more diligent referee would have sent Tomas O Sé packing in the semi-final of the 2000 championship?
