mayotyroneman, EVERY club has their own story, granted derrytresks mite not have been easy, not every club has the succes of cross, loads of clubs have hardluck stories, the way people are talking on this dromid, have had a reem of success and sure theyl be back next year. my own club cant get out of the gutter, they mite never have "their day", will that story ever be told, i dont think so, so quit wqith the patronising aww theyv worked so hard for this, no club just turns up on the day expecting a win, and dont say kerry do cuz thats lies, after losing to dublin, the general consensus wasn congratulations, all we complained about was our own performance,

The tyrone 'fan' here says the words 'a kerry player was always going to be singled out for abuse'!!

Comments like this just goes to show how much of a 'normal' and 'accepted' thing that abuse of players is in tyrone!!

It doesn't matter that Derrytresk are from Tyrone or that Declan O'Sullivan is a Kerry Senior player.

The fact is that a player was struck by one or more supporters after the game, this is mindless thuggery and should be treated as such. And the fact that they
had won the match makes it even worse, instead of celebrating with their own team, the way that most supporters do they attack the opposition team.
It is just thuggery, what ever about the team, the supporters should be banned from the final. This is what would be expected in any other sport.

It's the crowd getting involved that is the problem here lads. Bust ups on the pitch are common place in highly charged games.

Whoever was swinging the handbag needs to take a good luck at themselves.

All a bit harsh on tyrone as a whole although in fairness tyrone posters - your county has been highlighted a couple of times recently so that will bring the attention towards ye!

In fairness Ulsterman all of the Northern posters are blindly supporting the Tyrone team as well so the bias works both ways. After seeing what happened in Tyrone between the two clubs in the league final a few months ago, coupled with your man McMahon getting his jaw broken in the club championship,as well as hearing Tyrone people defend some of Ryan McMenamins antics over the years,I would be inclined to believe that the Tyrone team was at fault, but I would have expected the Kerrymen to show a bit more class and just walk away. Both teams were wrong and lets hope that certain posters stop describing this thuggery as passion please. Its not passion.

1098604 News of this and a Tyrone team involved. Not surprising at all. Par for the course.

Tut tut tut tut tut, do you think that makes you sound clever or what?

There has been quite a bit of bad press over the last few months ulsterman and rightly so into incidents in ulster which doesnt help our cause. One county in particular seems to be mentioned quite a bit.

BIAS AGAINST ULSTER GAA AND THE NORTH

raises it's ugly head in the GAA and Southern media once again. Yesterday's incidents in Portlaoise have kicked off a rabid, nasty, one sided reaction in the GAA outside Ulster and Southern media who have always been hostile to the North and Ulster GAA. Indeed if players, fans and mentors from either Dromid or Derrytresk are found guily of violent actions they should pay the penalty but the fall out and biased campaign today against Derrytresk, Tyrone and the North from some outside Ulster would be called racism if it was carried out against any other group. It has vindicated everything I have ever said that there are those in the 26 counties who, for some reason, hate everything about the Ulster GAA, North and Northern people. It has always been bubbling just under the surface in the GAA and South and erupts every so often; today is one of those occasions and some people need to wind their necks in and take the chip off their shoulders.

Complete rubbish, bias??? Really, what element of the stroy was biased. Players were attacked by so called "supporters" on 1 team. You are only making yourself look foolish with ramblings like you have just posted

Its amazing how accounts from the southern media differ from their northern counterparts!
It seems that both teams were as bad as one another! If there was violence, yes it needs to be dealt with,
but lets we see the evidence first. The Joe Duffy show has been involved now, this is ludicrous, surely he should be
discussing the political plight of our country! This is a distraction from the issues that actually matterin this country!
Another kerry team, beaten, and not shown repect (that all Kerry teams
believe is their right) by a tyrone team! I hope its not just more kerry whinging! If so, let it go!
Innocent till proven guilty!

Agree with Ulsterman..there are some notable exceptions to the 26 versus but it is evident.
We have had some support form our neighbouring counties which proves after all the boundary commission didn't do that flawless a job on partitioning national attitudes.

For what it's worth as MayoTyrone freuqently points out this was a momentous day for a tiny club surrounded by the luminaries of tyrone football past and present.
Derrytresk has neighbours of Coalisland, Clonoe, Derrylaughan, Ardboe, Moortown, Stewartstown, even Killyman ..
This is their day in the sun I for one do not begrudge them it.

I have stated that the guilty parties should be punished heavily but don't insult me by denying that this has stoked the bitter hostility that elements outside Ulster have for the game and people up here. It has been out there for decades and especially since Tyrone and Armagh won their All Ireland's; this is manna from heaven for them. The reaction of some Southern media and GAA people has been manic with it's hostility for Ulster GAA and Northerners in general.

In my opinion Liveline was a disgrace with the open, rabid hostility towards Derrytresk, Tyrone and Ulster in general. Up to the end when a Tyrone fella called in it was like a North Korean propoganda broadcast; shocking biased one sided hour of listening. I believe Derrytresk and Tyrone people should complain to the broadcasting standards body in the South.

In 2003, Kerry were trounced in an all-ireland semi-final. Poor Paidi O'Se was verbally abused by his fans, and assaulted by one also, The commentators and media just laughed this off, where was Joe Duffy then? More interested in detracting from the victors, accusing them of 'puke football' and showing kerry no respect. This is one of many instances!
Football violence is not only a tyrone problem, it happens everywhere! Its time to stamp it out everywhere!

Who held him down?
Jog your own memory there.
The was walked on accidentally.
Ye lot werent tough enough that day and 16 years on ye use it as an excuse the physically assault people.
A disgrace to the association.

Oh shut up Ulsterman. The bias I see here involves all the Northern posters defending the Derrytresk players (one moron described their antics as passion).Typical anti southern ramblings. Why should players from Kerry have to put up with those rabid supporters.

Hilarious hypocrisy of the highest order once again. When Tyrone get bashed by Meath it's because they aren't tough enough but when a Tyrone team hit back they are guilty of physical assault??? You couldn't make some of this stuff up, double standards how are you?

I agree and I have not heard liveline today but the incidents involving northern clubs seem to be happening more than they are in other providences. Thats just my view, I may be wrong.

Ha ha ha Road, accuses me of bias then defends Kerry and abuses Tyrone; if only the Southern posters had shown so much passion and anger when FG/Labour hit them with so many taxes? Maybe if Enda Kenny and Micheal Noonan wear Tyrone tops in the Dail the next time they announce a new tax the rest of the country might start fighting back??
