I still dont know where the idea of Kerry being cocky before the All Ireland came from. Because people said they were going to win thats being cocky is it?

Sounds familiar. They said on The Sunday Game that Kildare could be considered a top three team and Dublin people kept falling over each other to tell Kildare how we were losing the run of ourselves even though we had said nothing of the sort ourselves.

For future reference, maybe all Dublin posters can consult the following graphic which might help clarify matters: link

Dubbydave I agree they lost focus.
I felt very uncomfortable the few mins before the goal because we should have pressed on and 1-2 more points would have put it out of reach.
I would have though they were more complacent than cocky. It's not like they were show boating or anything like that.
Whatever they were is a matter of opinion but it wasn't what they should have been.

dont think for one second it was show boating at the end of the day it could have went either way just think the hunger in the dublin squad was stronger pulled them over the finish they never gave up on the game even when cooper slotted the goal in in the early stages dublin always kept the head up

Yes Dubby, it may have been a bit more hunger on the Dublin side that swung it for ye in the end, plus a bit of luck, but all winning teams have luck.

The main thing with Kerry down through the years is that we have always been able to bounce back after disappointments, a difficult thing to do, but it seems to be a trait of our teams.

Please allow me some gloating here....For all their titles they still haven't beaten Down in the championship.

Seriously though I don't begrudge Kerry anything. I have taken enormous pleasure watching them over the years and they have rightly earned all their titles.

Kerry have been the best team in the country for the last few years.
by Dublin (who needed to win an AI, to keep the media and GAA rolling in it!) with the help of some ridiculous calls by the referee!
Reminds me of 1995! I particularly love to see Dublin beaten, mainly because of the manu fans in disguise who fill the hill.
Don't hate Dublin, they have some true gaels, love to see them silenced!

It's one of those things. The good thing is there's a healthy banter amongst our supporters when our counties played and we wished ye the best at the '10 game that ye would have gone on to win that All-Ireland.

If you want to lose to a team in the Champioship it would be Kerry! There is no shame in losing to them! on the flip side if you want to win an All Ireland then you would want to beat Kerry in the Final! Then you truely know you are the best around!

Every team has to believe that they can win to win and Kerry have never been short of self belief. I've never been an anybody but Kerry merchant even though they've broken Dublin hearts on many occasions. Its hard to discount them despite a couple of players retiring . The price of success it jealousy or so I'm told by my Kerry colleagues :) . Donegal this year may be a team to watch , they will build on the solid defence.

spmccann-nice one! I am intrigued to how Donegal will play the championship this year; bad luck for them that Michael Murphy is out but he should be ok for the championship and they would be foolish not to bring Cassidy back.....but McGuinness has something, and has built belief into the Donegal team. He could indeed build on his defensive work of 2012...I will be watching

You can see how much this is hurting kerry by the way they just cant come out and admit they were beaten by a better team!

1. Most of the kerry scores and especially the ones to see them go 4 points ahead came from frees due to Dublin indiscipline!.....just like happened with cork in the league final.
2. When Dublin were down by 4 points they never thought for a moment that they were ever 'out of it'!!....Even MDMc spoke of the panels A v B game a week previous where the team were down by a similar amount a went on to win!
3. Following on from point 3, the Dubs didnt even celebrate the goal or treat it as any big deal when McDanger scored because they fully expected it to happen!!!!!
4. Kerry are supposed to be great lads and all that!.....they gave away 1-02 in the space of 4 minutes having been 4 points up in the last 7 minutes of an AI Final that they are supposed to be the masters of !!!

Well done Dublin but they didn't win SAM

I think you'll find Dublin did win Sam. Didn't you watch the last 6 minutes?

I think you will find that we have gotten over those minor setbacks that you are so keen to mention! Or are you not aware of where Sam is residing these days??

All this ***** about Dublin not winning Sam, Kerry throwing it away, blah blah blah is getting a bit tiresome at this stage

The history books will record Dublin as the 2011 AI champions, time for people to live with that and Sam ain't leaving Dublin till September at least

(although personally I don't think Dublin will retain it, I'm not sure they'll be able to take the pressure of being champions, I do think they're good enough to win Liam this year though, if they can get it together & have belief in themselves)

Minor setbacks PJ! lol. Dublin can have the trophy for a while,
it will probably take another 10-16 years for Dublin to win it again
when inevitably, for the sake of the gaa coffers, Dublin will 'need'
to win an all-ireland, and some dodgy
refereeing will hand it to them. lol
