Oh dear Tyrone are still getting to Kerry and they say they have got over it? Aye right!

We're on the verge of the classic TOTD debate Ulsterman. Care to join ;-)

I was enjoying reading the various opinions on this thread until today when it really went down hill and got hijacked by the usual clowns. Also disappointed in the few Kerry posters who took the bait. Lads, let them say what they want, but every county is jealous of Kerry due to our unparalleled success, an average of 1 All-Ireland every 3 years since we won our first, no sporting club/franchise can claim that kind of success in any sports throughout the world.

Thats is exactly the reason I started the thread. It surprises me how many neutrals shout for Kerry because of how good they are. You would think people would shout for the other team because of all the success they have had!

Regarding one all Ireland every three years - it closer to one every for year. You would think that would be enough for you!!!

Hopefully 2011 will be enough for the Dubs for a while so they'll give the rest of us a chance ;-)

Anyone who disses Kerry's record of All Irelands or disrespects them is an idiot.

No other county has produced such a prolific record in football & it's unlikely it will ever be bettered. Plus while Kerry has been producing brilliant footballers for decades, they're produced some real characters too, you can rattle off some of their names without even thinking about it, Spillane, Jack O Shea, Paidi O Se, the Bomber, Maurice Fitzgerald, The Gooch, Ciaran Donaghy and you could list off dozens more. So if you look over the last 125 years of Gaelic fooball, you have to acknowledge they have been the best county overall

Nonetheless in my personal opinion, I dislike any sport being dominated by 1 or 2 teams. I take the view that Kerry have enough All Irelands and it's better for football that it goes elsewhere

So as much as I appreciate Kerry football, I hope they don't win an AI for the next 3/4 years for the variety of it, that said, I don't think that will happen. As a matter of fact it wouldn't surprise me if they came bulling back this year & Sam ends up back in the Kingdom again

The only reason i would support another team against Kerry is that Kerry have won so many all Irelands. I have great admiration and respect for kerry and I enjoy watching them play, I remember when I was younger we used to pretend we were the bomber liston and paudi O Shea, such a great history but i was glad to see the dubs winning this year.

It's natural to not shout for a team that's usually there and thereabouts.
Obviously I want Kerry to win but would also hope that more teams step up to the plate and make a serious challenge in 2012.

Culann, our first official All-Ireland was the 1903 Championship even though we didn't actually win it until 1905 as far as I know, so this was 109 years ago. 109 years divided by 36 All-Irelands is 1 All-Ireland every 3.027 years :)

Great team and always admired them. If you don't then all you are is bitter and sad, like a few of my own county men on here!

Point taken Cute_kerry_hoor. Even more of a reason to want teams other than Kerry to win!

I admire and respect them. They have always been pure class but I'd prefer teams other than Kerry win. As cute_Kery_hoor just pointed out to me they have 36 All Irealnds out of 109. As Brian Cullen said in his All Ireland speech Kerry are always the team to beat. You have to be made of the right stuff to beat them and I hope there are teams out there that will beat them and stop them winning All Irelands. If they dont win an All Ireland this year that will be 3 years since they won one. Thats a lot for Kerry. I hope that becomes ten years and in between Dublin win one or two and close the gap them.

haha I'm only winding you up Culann :)

Obviously change is great for the game, and although we suffered, it was great to see Dublin winning the All-Ireland, anything that generates interest in our game can only be good. I remember being very disappointed when Dublin were beaten in 92, 93 and 94.....I admired that team greatly and was delighted to see them win in 95.

There was a feeling of goodwill towards Dublin at the time, not too dissimilar in the current climate, but that sentiment vanished in 96 when Meath got every possible break against Dublin.

Agree cute kerry hoor, these threads always descend into the usual kerry tyrone slanging match, its been over 3 years of the same debating on this forum, change the record.

I think everyone has to respect what kerry has done and the fact they are competitive every single year but I don't buy into the fact that they are the eptimony of the beautiful game. Yes, when it comes down to a straight game of skill kerry will win 99% of the time, however they have no qualms in being as cynical as any other team when the need arises. This is the reason why they are so successful, they can adapt to whatever situation arises and thats the sign of a truly great team!

Stringbean, you are exactly right. Kerry have always been well versed in the dark arts of the game. Physicality has been as much a part of the Kerry style as skill and finesse. As you said, All-Irelands are not won by skill alone.

I had similar feelings about Armagh. Really wanted to see them win it where they were becoming a force.
Didn't want it to be at our expense though.
Great night was had ten years ago after final. What I can remember of it anyway.

superglue, I was on the hill in 2002 when Armagh won and when the game was over we were overwhelmed by Kerry fans cheering and congratulating us. It added a special element to a great day so thanks to those great Kerry fans. I also remember 3 kerrymen appearing in Crossmaglen after the final and staying for 2 days partying about the village!!
