Listened to Marian finucane today on RTE, they talked about St Patricks day and how important day it is, rugby, soccer and hockey. Not a mention of Croke park yesterday.

Dear Hogan Stand

I'll try and make this point again, hopefully I'll not be censored this time.

The following match report [http://hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=164481] refers to Loughgiel Shamrocks as northern raiders.

Why is this turn of phrase towards Ulster teams acceptable, would western peasants or southern hoors be acceptable to describe Galway or Kerry teams?

Just asking like

Peasants and hoors are insults, while raiders is not (not in a sporting context anyway). When galway next win an all ireland I guarantee youll hear things like "the wests awake".

Do you comment on anything other than abusing rugby. Grow up, we have been very successful in europe the past few years
Why so bitter against rugby?

I wouldnt say we have been very successful Ormond.France,Wales and England have all won more grand slams/championships than us (and there are only Italy and Scotland left)

When talking about being successful in europe i was also talking about the provinces, since 06 weve 4 heineken cups out of the last 6 and we may win another this year.

you cant offer good debate on rugby because you have such bias that you cant see anything wrong with it or the way it is portrayed in ireland

Yes i can. There is plenty wrong with rugby, we only have 4 pro sides yet the IRFU have refused to give 1 of them the same opportunities as the others for the entire period we have been pro up until now.
Schools rugby gets too much attention, and the clubs underage system(youths rugby) gets nowhere near the coverage it deserves
There is plenty of other problems but im way too tired, hungover and sick to even try discuss them

Interesting to see the difference in treatment of 2 Sports stories on this evenings RTE 6 o'Clock news. The statement by the Monaghan county board that they were not going to appeal the decision to lose home advantage in game v Galway was accompanied by video footage of the trouble from the Feb 12th game against Kildare while the citing of an English rugby player for biting Stephen Ferris last saturday merited just a mention but with no video footage. Strange that a game which was exhaustively covered by RTE with many cameras and they couldn't get a shot of the alleged incident or failing that a video of a biting incident from another rugby game. (Which is what they did in on another occasion in relation to a GAA match).

There was no footage of the bite because they were probably in the middle of a scrum or something where a camera couldnt have caught it.The bite has received plenty of coverage in the media in fairness.
