1130999 please explain to me why club rugby deserves any coverage or why schools rugby deserves coverage while its gaa counterpart receives very little

They all deserve coverage from the media, all of them deserve coverage as much as the other. I Dont know why GAA doesnt get as much media promotion maybe its PROs dont do enough, I dont know.
Just because rugby PR staff work very hard to ensure their game gets well promoted doesnt mean you can insult the sport or its followers
Are you suggesting that ive said club or schools rugby deserves more coverage than their equivilent GAA comps.
Silly comment saying why does club rugby deserve "any" coverage of course it does, it deserves media coverage as much as club GAA

how can you possibly say club rugby deserves as much as club gaa...nobody attends the games while club gaa has huge attendence and interest in it..i will agree with you that gaa doesn't promote itself well enough but the hype schools rugby gets is rubbish considering the standard of play

Plenty of people attend club rugby games. Do you have proof that "nobody" attends club rugby games...

What is your problem with rugby?
The standard of schools rugby is actually quite high with very high skill levels, as there is kids who in some cases go from 1 year playing schools underage rugby to fully professional games in the pro 12/heineken cup

If you go to the RTE player and have a look at wed 15th nights prime time its pretty well presented what I mean. Court injunctions against Juvenile handball coaches denying them access to the handball centre, 100 children deprived of coaches hence they cannot train in their Feile year. Court injunctions against men who have in some cases given freely 50 years to the GAA. And to hear the GAA's justification for it shocking what corporation will do when they get flush with money, our money. Never mind their poor treatment of the people in the area. There are kids with no where to go, despite what the GAA say they have NO intention of bulding anything, just making a nice entrance for there nice shiny corporate cars.

Participationa and popularity rugby isnt way behind soccer and GAA.
Schoools rugby in many cases does have high enough skill levels

Ive been playing and watching rugby for nigh on 17 years at this stage and i joined hoganstand so that i could discuss GAA matters especially tipperary hurling matters but have ended up defending rugby against untrue, childish accusations many times

GAA has plenty of cheerleaders in the print media as well as on tv
No i dont i mean PR staff who work with the IRFU on lansdowne road and the PR staff with the provincial branches in offices in cork, limerick, galwey, belfast and dublin

I see the Independent are running that Kerry hurling story AGAIN today, with a headline that is designed to make readers believe the players were dropped specifically for playing soccer.
It'd be a bit odd for the Kerry hurling manager to be anti-soccer when his son is a professional soccer player.

no you come on here to try and get everyone to conform to your own view and total love of everything about rugby being so great and perfect when it sadly is not...i also would love an explanation on how gaa and soccer are not miles ahead in terms of popularity..you do realise soccer is the most played sport in ireland

In many cases the total figure for soccer players in ireland includes lads who go out and play 5 a side with their friends and dont go near a club which cant happen with rugby or GAA
I dont come on here trying to get everyone to conform to my view. Il defend my sport against untrue accusations and viewpoints portrayed by people like you and il comment on hurling and gaelic football issues that interest me.
Rugby certainly is not perfect, watch the italy scotland game from today and you have 80 minutes of evidence that rugby is far from perfect but the sport is always looking to improve itself

and excluding 5 a sides..soccer is a huge sport in ireland especially in younger age groups up to the age of around 16 when a lot of leagues end..rugby does not compare to it in participation
