Dont see how Michael Murphy was out of line ? Hes entitled to his opinion is he not ?? And he obviously feels the Cassidy stepped too far out of line, broke their trust and doesnt deserve to get a place back on the panel. Hes as much entitled to his opinion on the matter as anyone else is he not

Yes Kevin was entitled to his opinion, and I felt at the time anyway that Jim acted too harshly. That said, id Michael murphy believes he stepped out of line (and i think he would know what is too far more than any of us) well then he should be allowed to say that no more than any of us on here.

never said you werent entitled to your opinion im just saying is it not fair that Murphy says what he really thinks about the situation instead ?

Up-Donegal,Im not entirely convinced that thats what murphy really thinks, but only he (and perhaps Jim McGuinness) know that,so theres no point debating it,but all Im saying is that if i was kevin Cassidy, after going into battle with murphy for the last year,I would feel very hurt and let down to hear him say theres no way back.I am not a fan of the strike happy culture prevalent in some counties, but in a situation like this,I think players should show a modicum of loyalty/support to one another (not saying they should defy McGuinness). Murphy should have either said nothing,or said something like 'who knows what the future will hold"

I think the same. Murphy may be scared if he sticks up for Cassidy he might be droped too. As for teams striking iv said it before Cork have set the precedent that if you dont get what you want then strike and you will. I also think to an extent the GPA have brought about the whole ''player power'' thats now part of the game.

Murphy is entitle to HIS opinion as is everyone, he is not qualified to speak for wanyone else which he has claimed "everyone agreed", and he certainly faces no sanction for speaking his mind which kinda smacks of cowardice. Some people like Yes men, but the way Murphy has gone about this is definetely a sreak of weak meaness in my book.

Cassidy responds to Murphy criticism
16 December 2011
Kevin Cassidy has hit back at his former Donegal team-mate and captain Michael Murphy.

In backing manager Jim McGuinness' decision to drop the two-time All Star defender from his squad for comments he made in Declan Bogue's book, 'This Is Our Year', Murphy said on Wednesday: "Kevin stepped out of line and that was agreed by everyone."

But Cassidy replied on the social networking site Twitter: "In life the opinions you express should be your own and you shouldn't be influenced by others."

Following on from that, Cassidy told the Irish Sun: "As far as I was concerned, it's all over.

"I've always said that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but, like I said, I felt it was all over and really it's about time everybody just moved on. I've left the whole thing behind me. I haven't even discussed football for the last few weeks."

I agree, i would feel hurt if i was Cassidy aswell & the team had turned against me. i also feel that he was dealt with harshly (from what i know that it, we obviously do not know the entire story). That said I feel murphy is entitled to come out and say what he wants about the situation. He obviously feels the trust was broken and if he doesnt see a way back for Kevin onto the team then why bother lying ?

Boys whats happening in the game when you look at the cassidy saga this man has been a great donegal player on some poor sides he was what the game is about
tough could hit and be hit worked like a horse for years and this year took responsability to kick for points when no one else would a great year for the player. The day that managers take phones off players and imposeses their will in alot of aspects of their lives its bad. Some might say he broke rules what rules jims rules? He spoke to a gaa hack so what sure what really did he tell him.I really think this is really wrong with cass how must him and his family feel and then missing the team trip. Now murphy throwing in his lot for jim smells abit like niall quinn ala world cup.Sean boylan micko m harte must have laughed at what they heard bout the phones 13 or 14 sams between them by knowing their players and handleing them like men not puppets.New breed managers are now like the old type school master always right in their eyes. Its just got silly now.

This is now really tarnishing what was a great year for Donegal, I said previously that I though there was more to all this than we knew about and I believe that even more now. Cassidy was wrong I believe, he should have consulted with others before commiiting the comments he did to that book whether the punishment fits the crime is questionnable and equally Murphy had no call to pass comment now when the issue was dying down and being forgotten about. It seems that Cassidy not only fell out of favour with McGuinness but the players as well.
