Congrats to Mick Foley! Delighted for him. Not only was he brilliant for Kildare this year, he also captained his club to their first senior county title since 1987! Great year for him.

Three All Stars for Donegal is a complete joke. They should be tried for crimes against football after their performances this year. Not giving one to Rory O Carroll is a disgrace. Johnny Doyle also unlucky. Cannot argue with any of the forwards. Delighted for Cillian O Connor. Have been watching him all year and very impressed with him in every game.

Dont see why the problem with the Donegal players getting All Stars is! All 3 were deserving winners, who would people have put insteed of them?

Congratulations Mick Foley! Great few weeks for him! Johnny Doyle should have gotten one instead of MD McCauley

@Possum, I thought Johnny Doyle would get one ahead of MD McCauley. I'm delighted for MD but I think that Johnny Doyle deserved it more. MD played on a on a winning AI final team and that probably swung it for him.

Dont see what Bernard Brogan did this year to warent one as been said kicks over a few handy frees. A new system for picking this should be brought in, journalists who only go to games with the big teams playing is no way to pick it.

Players that are "darlings of the media always tend to end up with an All-Star the likes of the Brogans who are in the papers or in ads for something every chance they get. Aidan Walsh, Paddy Keenan, Eoin Bradley, Gooch, Kieran Donaghy are others the media love so there the kind of players will always get in where players like John Galvan who you rarely see in the media dont

How MacAuley got one ahead of John Doyle I'll never know.

Johnny Doyle in my mind didnt deserve an all star THIS year. He is a perfect role model and has been the beating heart of kildare for the last 10 years. I think it was a sign of how ad injuries were that he was removed from the forward line. sure he played great considering but if i was picking a midfielder Id go with McAuley everytime. I understand people talking about the 3 donegal all stars but look at the year they had. they had protection but kept the best players in ireland scorless or to only 1/2 points. Mcgee has been unreal for us the last 3 years and fully deserves it. OCarroll is young and will get a number of all stars. Lacey was unlucky not to be in running for POTY so was nearly assured his 3rd all star. Cass was a surprise but he did score some vital match winning scores from half back.

Someone mentioned murphy not getting one as being "shafted". I dont think he deserved an all star this year. He is one of the best players in ireland but this year he didnt shine as he was played out of position. McFaddan was more solid living off the scraps except the kildare game where he was marked out.

All Stars are a privilege to receive but nobody in donegal thinks these 3 are any more deserving than the other 30 players that played there hearts out and got us to the Semis. I look forward to next year. Who knows maybe we can get 4 all stars or even one in the forwards

Delighted for Mick Foley! Much deserved had a great year and a great last few weeks also captaining his club to win the county final! Thought the chance was gone after O'Se and McGee were announced! Disappointed Johnny Doyle didn't get one thought he was better than MD McCauley!

@moomoo By that logic Cluxton wouldn't haven gotten an all star. Bernard Brogan still played well enough to deserve his all star throughout the season. He did a lot of good work during the league campaign.
I'd hardly call Gouch a media darling but hes there on talent alone same for Brogan. Being on the winning team in an AI final certainly helps your shout for an all star. Its no coincidence that in both hurling and football the teams that won the AI had the most All stars.

I don't have that many qualms with the all-stars this year. The only two I thought were debatable were O'Se and McAuley.

Then of course we have the usual media darlings included. Most likely they are guaranteed all-stars for the next four/five years no matter how good or bad they are.

No what im saying is there the kind of players that the media love and it goes for them when the All Stars are picked where a player who doesn't give as many interviews or are in the media tend to be over looked
