Had what could only be described as an early morning brain fart and posted the following on the equivalent hurling thread:

Highs: For Meath, very few. Possibly the win over Louth. Also seeing the huge crowds in Navan despite the teams poor performances. The performance of the backs towards the end of the season gave me cause for optimism for next year.

Overall, seeing Carlow's reactions after beating Louth and London getting their first win in decades was nice to see.

Lows: Way too many. Both the performance of our players and the referee in the Kildare game was abysmal. The usual suspects coming out with crap about karma and showing they had no interest in justice in the first place. Also, Brian Farrell's red card not being rescinded (especially as Connolly's was rescinded later on) gave us the feeling that the GAA were punishing us for last year.
The H&S brigade cutting the capacity of Pairc Tailteann by 20000 in a few weeks was ridiculous especially seeing as it easily held 20000 against Kildare.
Traipsing all the way to Derry and Belfast in the league to see us roll over and give up.

Overall, the sheer venom and hatred shown towards Donegal for daring to win games the "wrong way" was bordering on shameful.

High: The laughable irony of Pat Spillane saying that 'sometimes low-scoring games are good games' after the AI Final first half which had about the same amount of scores as the first half of the Donegal V Dublin Semi Final. What a spoofer.

There was no comparison between those two games. Ye donegal lads are not stupid, so i know ye know that. Everyone that watched that filth in the semi final (apart from donegal people understandably) were shouting for dublin to win. I dont think anyone could bear to watch any more of that nonsense in the final. Come on, be honest donegal lads, i know ye are being loyal to your county and it's admirable. But it's not justified. Admit it, that must be the worst game of "football" witnessed for many a long day
...............................................

Am I think all the people on here saying how they were cheering for Donegal and how its horrible and disgraceful they way that people like you disrespect the whole donegal team kinda proves that not everyone was shouting for Dublin
And how is not justified to support your county ? The same team that after years of winnig nothing (well division 1 but you know what i mean) , that won ulster, division 2 and got us three days out to Croke park ? Grow up

I agree.

Its very irritating when, after making a heroic comeback, your corner back needlessly fouls a player in front of goal.

Some decisions go for you, some go against. Some people only see the ones that go against them. This reached fever pitch this summer and it is incredibly annoying.

You're only fooling yourself lad coz you're not fooling the rest of us. There is NO WAY that donegal people could take any pride in that filth that we witnessed in the semi final. Lads, it was atrocious. I watched it in a pub and everyone couldnt believe what they were seeing, one lad said "was donegal's gameplan to play for a 0-0?" I know your fellow nordies are stickin up for ye but thats just the northern inferiority complex kicking in

The funny thing is, you actually have some decent footballers if he'd just let them play. Imagine how disillusioned michael murphy must feel, being told not to do anything creative just destruct destruct destruct. If they actually had a go at dublin they prob wouldve beaten them. But thats the way it goes

I'll admit it probably frustrates murphy that he cant show his class as one of the best forwards around, but I think captaining his team to a league title, ulster title and all-ireland semi final probably makes up for it for him. Its about winning the games at the end of the day. Shur what would be the point in eaving murphy to show how great he is, but then losing all the games. I think the whole team would obviously rather be winning games

Fair enough, i know it's all about winning games. But surely when you have a class forward like murphy, he would be better utilised in the forward line terrorising defences? You're not gonna win many games scoring 6 points. I think people need to remember, donegal did lose the game against dublin when they went ultra defensive, so it didnt work

up_donegal, I don't know why you're entertaining this, anyone who suggests that a Gael from another county that should be disgusted with their team/unjustified in suppporting them/ashamed of their colours or whatever can go and screw themselves into a knot. That he would compound that by suggesting ye're kidding yourselves & everyone else in supporting your team is arrogance beyond belief.

As it happens, I don't like Donegal's tactics either, makes for very poor football but I respect it brought you 2 trophies & a great Summer from nothing and I know 2011 will not be forgotten or regretted in Donegal, no matter what vindictive comments you might get from the likes of Bananaman here
