1038871 The Republic of Ireland needs a President for all the people. Not ones who go sprouting derogatory and in my view racist terms in the media.

Racist?? Are you for real?

What he says actually has some truth to it.

Martin has now said he would meet her majesty. Danny Morrison on rte radio today summed it . Most republicans acknowledged that some good has come out of the queens visit although they had reservations beforehand. People are moving on. Don't forget he is standing for the people of Ireland not for sinn fein. Let the people sing.

Big move for SF and confirms the party's ambition to challenge and grow in the 26. SF and McGuinness would have been well aware of the hysterical and rabidly anti-SF backlash this move would inspire from some journalists and media outlets. We should expect that some families will shamelessly be used for political ends as the McConville family were in Co. Louth.

I'm confident despite the inevitable anti McGuinness campaign that he'll poll well and take tens of thousands of first time SF votes - which is the real point of entering this election.

The point is most republicans like me had reservations but now accept it was a good thing. The garden of remembrance ceremony highlighted where things are between the two countries. In my lifetime I never thought big Ian would work with sinn fein, I never thought the queen would do what she done in the garden of remembrance and I never thought Marty would be president. Now that would be a nice hat trick before I pop my cloggs. Throw in a Dubs four in a row for good measure!

I tell you now That I do believe Martin has certainly put the cat among the establishments Pigeon. I seen one on the frontline last night and this stool pigeon was certainly getting his knickers in atwist and in truth the more he talks the more people will be reminded that he was at the in power also when Irish sovereignity was squandered. I hope he is on TV everynight just to rub peoples faces in it.

Its all over before it even began, ireland is a real country with real politics no one ever told Baron McGuinness that (he stepped sown as an MP so he is a Baron) he cant insult his way to the to power here, the irish people will not stand for it. lets hope as put by Fintin o toole that the geneva convention catches up with this war criminal, over 600 murdered civilians versus 28 loyalist paramilitaries say its all really. poor Baron McGuinness will regret for the rest of his life the 'west brit' comments made yesterday about the irish media, would it be safe to say that he hasnt taken his foot out of his mouth since friday. its one comedy show affter another and mary lou comparing him to nelson mandella was the icing on the cake over the weekend, the media havent even started yet on Baron Mc Guinness, imagine what they will come up with when they prodb into the background. Baron Mc Guinness says he will meet the Queen- what complete arrogance, who says she will meet him?

Wouldnt it be an absolute triumph for the irish people where Baron McGuinness went for the presidency and ended up in a war crimes court - now that would possibly be the best thing that has ever happened in the north, here is hoping!!

just in case any of the reader need to brush up on the facts of this presidential bid. FINTAN O'TOOLE spell its all out very in very simple and clear terms. There isnt one aspectof this that can even be suggested to be not factually true...

I look forward to the propaganda spin the the SF lads put on this. Iam truly delighted this man is running as we not have an opportunity to completely expose him basically for free as he has more chace of becoming the king of england than becoming president of ireland.

Anyone who thinks this man should be president should take off their shinner glasses and look at the facts, if David Norris is deemed not fit to run, how can this man be considering the faults of both candidates?

And here is one of the best reply to Fintan's article in the ' Comments' section

For balance lets not forget British transgressions that clearly breached the Geneva Convention

1. Bloody Sunday in Derry 1972 the colded blooded murder of 14 civilians.
2.Internment without trial of thousands of innocent nationalists.
3.Dublin/Monaghan bombings aided and abetted by British military intelligence murdering 33 civilans.
4.Loughgall ambush by the SAS killing 8 IRA members when they could have been arrested.
5.Gibraltor ambush killing 3 unarmed IRA members.
6.RUC collusion in the murder of hundreds of catholics.
7.Hundreds more killings of Irish civilans by British forces that are left unanswered.

But we had no problem welcoming their head of state Queen Elizabeth II.

Its easy to cherrypick the past Fintan, you re good at it Ill give that!
