Watching the camogie final and I see Wexford have their names on their shirts. Would this be an idea for football or hurling? hogoboss (Monaghan) - Posts: 617 - 11/09/2011 16:29:36 1031748 Link 0 |
it would certainly help about 40,000 Dublin fans name a Dublin player next sunday. hogoboss (Monaghan) - Posts: 617 - 11/09/2011 16:37:03 1031754 Link 0 |
I'd certainly be in favour of it, I see no credible reasons to object. Ned_Stormcrow (Cavan) - Posts: 1071 - 11/09/2011 17:11:00 1031778 Link 0 |
No reason against it? What about cost, is a set of jerseys only supposed to last one match? onlyhurling (Galway) - Posts: 800 - 11/09/2011 18:04:35 1031819 Link 0 |
deffo needed, nothing worse than dublin supporters (loose term) shouting numbers instead of names liathroidboy (Mayo) - Posts: 4921 - 11/09/2011 19:02:10 1031880 Link 0 |
When I read the title of this thread I knew it would be minutes before someone came out with the Dublin names/numbers thing!! Snufalufagus (Dublin) - Posts: 8100 - 11/09/2011 19:17:21 1031902 Link 0 |
It couldnt work as you are not given a squad number at the start of the year like soccer. The same starting 15 might not start two consequative games meaning that the names would have to be changed to suit the numbers. tir_eoghain_abu (Tyrone) - Posts: 773 - 11/09/2011 19:19:58 1031906 Link 0 |

It wouldnt work as for the reasons mentioned on the changing of playes etc. but the dubs on here cant hide behind the fact that it always happens at championship game, a dub missed a shot and the roaring to take number whatever off starts, i have witnessed it and noone who was ver at a dublin game could say with a straight face that they never seen it. liathroidboy (Mayo) - Posts: 4921 - 11/09/2011 20:49:04 1032038 Link 0 |

ah for god sake we;ll turn into soccer next, no it would only be another way for the gaa to raise more money by charging more for personalised jerseys... if you don;t know your county players your not much of a supporter Horsebox77 (Kerry) - Posts: 5491 - 11/09/2011 21:50:24 1032131 Link 0 |
I have been going to Dublin matches since 1991 and have yet to here anyone shouting numbers rather than names. Rural people need to get over this inferiority complex they have. thistle_harps (UK) - Posts: 879 - 12/09/2011 08:26:14 1032148 Link 0 |
In fairness though, the Dublin goalie and the guy who plays number 14 for Dublin will need to have a good game against the other team but I wish we still had yerman who was a big guy and used to play in the middle of the pitch playing with us against the other team!!
