Names on backs of jerseys

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Watching the camogie final and I see Wexford have their names on their shirts. Would this be an idea for football or hurling?

it would certainly help about 40,000 Dublin fans name a Dublin player next sunday.

I'd certainly be in favour of it, I see no credible reasons to object.

No reason against it? What about cost, is a set of jerseys only supposed to last one match?

When I read the title of this thread I knew it would be minutes before someone came out with the Dublin names/numbers thing!!

.........The obvious gag and distinct lack of original 'wit' shown typifies country folk!!.....'dry codger schleveenism' is their only comedy!!

It couldnt work as you are not given a squad number at the start of the year like soccer. The same starting 15 might not start two consequative games meaning that the names would have to be changed to suit the numbers.

Might need to put the name of the county on as well, just for identification purposes!

It wouldnt work as for the reasons mentioned on the changing of playes etc. but the dubs on here cant hide behind the fact that it always happens at championship game, a dub missed a shot and the roaring to take number whatever off starts, i have witnessed it and noone who was ver at a dublin game could say with a straight face that they never seen it.

I have been going to Dublin matches since 1991 and have yet to here anyone shouting numbers rather than names. Rural people need to get over this inferiority complex they have.

In fairness though, the Dublin goalie and the guy who plays number 14 for Dublin will need to have a good game against the other team but I wish we still had yerman who was a big guy and used to play in the middle of the pitch playing with us against the other team!!

........sure if we win this we qualify for the Europen Champions Cup dont we?!!

Took the words out of my mouth. They just have to except the fact that they are the second class citizens of this country.
