1029955 this is the right decision. the irfu is full of mature reasonable people, people here are just spouting their own political hatred and bias. like it or lump it but 100% factually and legally true is that there are two seperate countries on this island- the irfu represents both equally and does not show favouritism and they should be commended for this. THIS IS IRELAND NOT THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND.

brilliantly said ballboy, for once i agree with you, and it just goes to show that those born on this island are IRISH, not northern irish or republic of irish! i knew you were a strong nationalist all along

Hear, hear well said ballboy. And Ned Stormcrow, I believe that Tommy Bowe played rugby with the Royal Armagh school, and then became an accomplished international during his years playing for Ulster. I think your point is invalid!

The stupidity of people suggesting that the republic is somehow more important to the 'Island of Ireland team' than Northern Ireland is very silly indeed, these same people harping on like wise guy from tyrone when they say if they dont want to stand for the anthem they dont have to andshould clear off, the whole point is there isnt an anthem, a flag, etc etc for the Island of Ireland- i mean if that simplist of inclusive action taken by the IRFU goes over peoples heads then could they really see anything but another 800 years of partition, the arrogance of the nationalist crowd on this matter is so funny as between them they havent the foggiest whats going on, why dont ye just stick to what ye do best and hate anyone and everyone who isnt a fellow head case.... fast forward 800 years anything change? hardly, but it will still be everyone faulst but the nationalists, actions define people and the actions and behaviour of people on here is an absolute disgrace, ye only have yourselves to blame.

I'll put it like this, until you can comprehend, understand, and agree with what the irfu is doing you may as well not mention a united ireland as you simply are not ready, the people of the republic are happy with the status quo, if ye want change let ye be the first to change, if ye dont change, nothing happens and either way the people in the republic are not really too bothered, ye have broken every bridge until ye start rebuilding them with the unionist and the people of the republic we will not entertain any of the nonsense. I suppose at the end of the day and all nationalist deep down know this, ye have been completely wrong the sooner ye own up appologise and show you are sincere then the sooner we will acknowledge your existence. lads the whole world 100% knows ye are wrong, there aint really going to be any shame in admitting what we all know now is there. the irfu and their tolerance of this multicultural ireland is somthing that is really great about this island and its people, everything esle is based on the same old political/ religious hatred.

I do believe that those 22 players today were magnificent regardless of the Anthem. For Me I would gladly accept a different Flag and Anthem if we could stride the world in all things as a unified nation because these 22 men have shown us for some time what we can do as a united country. I dont particularly like Soccer but I would go to every home Game if we had one team for this Island.

i think the win was all down to the song, its great when you have educated upstanding people using common sense, if only the peasants would follow

We must ask presidential wcandidate Martin McGuinness his opinion on this, perfect opportunity for him to make a statement that he can retract a few hours later

Irelands call is an embarassment. I'd rather no anthem was played at all.

The song is awful but the idea behind it is right, better a crap song be played than players like stephen ferris, rory best, andrew trimble etc not playing for ireland at all

Ballboy there is a flag for the Island of Ireland http://flagspot.net/flags/ie-colon.html. The country wasn't always divided, just in case you didn't know.
