Why do most threads on this forum have to inevitably end up in a disagreement about Northern Ireland, we are talking about a very serious sistuation that is currently taking place in London, yet all we get on here is the usual anti British claptrap, Northern Ireland, plastic bullets, RUC etc etc, seriously folks the world does not revolve around Northern Ireland, and its all actually quite boring. The scumbags in London who are doing their damndest to bring anarchy to the streets of London are complete and utter lowlifes, unemployed wasters who are destroying their own areas, burning innocent people out of their homes and businesses. Somebody mentioned in this thread how great it was to see that the MET were not using plastic bullets, at this stage I would have no qualms about bringing in plastic bullets as these lowlifes can not be allowed to continue rioting, looting, arson attacks or attacking the Police.

FFS, looks like I'm going to have to explain this again for the benefit of the illiterati of HS! This thread was started to 'discuss' the differing attitudes and methods employed by the RUC and the MET/Avon/Merseyside forces in dealing with serious public disorder. I noted an interview with the UK home secretary on Sky where she vehemently opposed the use of water cannon and armoured vehicles, of the type commonly used on our streets, as this was not how they 'police' the streets of Britain. I saw for myself on TV how they deal with a riot, a hooded thug taunted the policeman right into his face, the response from the PC in full riot gear and baton, push him, yes, he pushed him, jobs a good'un. So you see my point here, its seemingly still just fine and dandy to fire lethal projectiles at Paddy, sure he's used to it, but not at Leroy, Ahmed and Gazza! The image of London, one year from the greatest show in earth, is in tatters, the Met cannot cope, the politcians are impotent, but there is no likelihood of using the same tactics and methods on the streets of London as there is in Short Strand or Lurgan. DISCUSS!

Your talking sense man but see we dont understand what went on up north cause we didnt live their. They have every right to voice their opinion and to still feel angry about what has gone in the north. U have to see it from both points of view. They lived through it and we didnt. I think the past is past and we should move on but thats my opinion. Easy for me to say cause i live in Cork.

Anyway the london riots are a disgrace. Innocent people getting beaten up, robbed etc....They should be water cannoned, shot at...whatever it takes. Their scum and scum must be dealt with. Chely cole came from a right scum bag of a spot but she didnt use that as an excuse...she is just 1 example. Their like the people of southhill, myross, ballymun etc...always looking for excuses for being such scumbags...now when i mention these places im not talking about everyone cause u do get honest people 2.

There are criminal elements involved here but I have some friends and relatives in Britain who have been warning for months that many of these areas are economic and social tinderboxes waiting to explode. The Tories have cut youth club funding, educational grants to poorer kids, slashed youth worker jobs, cut billions from inner city Labour led councils in London and the North and pumped billions into middle class Tory led councils in the affluent South East. Over the past year the poorest councils in England (mostly Labour led) have had their budgets cut by 8%) while the richest councils (mostly Tory led) have had their budgets increased by 8& so it's not rocket science. The same thing happened in the early 80's when Thatcher's right wing policies dumped millions on the dole and opened up public services to private profit. Deprived communities became even more deprived and Tottenham, Brixton, Bristol and Liverpool all erupted in anger at the unfairness. Yes there are yobs involved but the Tories are ideologically programmed to punish ordinary people to swell the coiffeurs and investment portfolios of their city friends. I spoke on the phone to an English friend a few months back at what the Tories are doing and he preicted that there would be a return to the riots of the 1980's because so many people there are very angry at having their livelihoods sacrificed for the bank debt and Tory party funders.
