Who Are Ya??

I heard this being chanted last night with gusto from Dublin supporters on Hill16 and around the ground. Firstly, the Dublin performance was magnificent against Tyrone but the jeering of Tyrone by a large section of Dublin support near the end was pretty low brow in my opinion and not in the spirit of the Gael. Before people make excuses and claim it was a small section, it was not. The first time I heard this chant was when I attended a Chelsea match for the first and last time at Stamford Bridge.

I hate hearing these soccer chants goading the opposition coming into GAA. Perhaps it is a sign of changing times but it is not a development for the better in my opinion. Those Dublin supporters who jeered this great Tyrone team of All Ireland winners would do well to remember that none of the remaining teams in the Championship will want to be subjected to this type of public ridicule. Jimmy McGuiness has an easy job now - he just has to play that chant over and over inside in Donegal training to see the response. As a Mayo supporter we sat through many humiliating days in Croke Park with hidings being dished out to us particularly from Kerry but it was a credit to their support that they never resorted to that type of triumphalism which I heard last night. This Dublin team and management is a class act with great dignity and some of their support would do well to mirror those qualities.

Well said, theres an apparent lack of 'class' amongst a large portion of the Dublin support, always has been, that ain't going to change and they are clearly hankering for the return of their beloved Premiership. Thankfully the real Dublin supporters more than make up for this 'deficit'.

Seriously do people on here only listen to the crowd at Dublin matches?

Do yous put cotton wool in your ears when other counties play?

MesAmis is right. There is an element of this in every county. IMO it generally stems from the 17/18 year old drunkards who only live to go to Dublin and get trashed for the day, the hurling/football is secondary. They are all big tough men in a crowd of 30.

bit of a story here
in the 2008 semi final cork v kerry...cork were 7 points down with 7 mins to play
as this was very typical many cork supporters were leaving..i was sitting in the cusack stand and a few kerry supporters stood
towards the cork fans leaving chanting cheerio cheerio cheerio..i was tempted to get up and leave but decided to take this beating and not give those kerry fans the pleasure of watching and chanting at cork fans leaving...6 mins later and cork pull level after 2 late goals...with the majority of cork fans gone me, my father and 4 lads sitting behind us proceeded to stand and chant cheerio cheeerio cheerio to the dejected looking kerry fans who were chanting the same just 6 minutes earlier..
i must say it was the single most satisfying moment of cork v kerry match for me personally
it was gas

What i think is worse is when fans leave early just because your team are losing ,this Tyrone team gave you 3 AI in 8 years they deserve more respect than that

There is bad and good with every set of supporter, though Dublin being a city it is worse and yesterday was evidence of their fair weather supporters...

Whilst I do not like booing or soccer chants, they are part of the parcel now-a-days. What was completely disgraceful was the Dubs on the hill chanting and talking during the minutes silence, I can only imagine how the fanillies of those deceased felt at this...
