I find it scary that I agree with the lad from Mayo, Maths is a perfect example of an Irish joke. Let me see! the failure rates in Music and Art are virtually nil, we are told this is because the students are "motivated" so i presume the opposite is true then of ordinary level maths with its archaic throwback to the Edwardian era. How come so many students who fail maths do so well in geography, history etc? its bacsue the subject is made interesting by interested students and teachers. But maths? As a subject poor teachers persist in trying to teach the ordinary level maths curriculum which is total and utter useless tripe, they know it the pupils know.
