For excitement for me it would have been the Down v Tyrone (both matches) 2008 first round of Ulster. Donegal v Kildare had a unbelievable finish aswell. gaelic_life (Down) - Posts: 286 - 01/08/2011 17:43:01 1000836 Link 0 |
I thought the 2005 all ireland between Kerry and Tyrone was top class all through, Tyrones best display in croker IMO, also Kerry Galway QF from a few years ago. Game was played in driving rain but for pure skill it was a classic. Tippsman (Tipperary) - Posts: 17 - 01/08/2011 17:46:51 1000838 Link 0 |
The 4 game saga between Dublin and Meath in 1991 and if you had to pick one then the fourth game. What fixture has ever come close to this? maybe the Kildare v Meath 3 game saga but the Dublin game beats it imo. BettystownRoyal (Meath) - Posts: 3353 - 01/08/2011 17:46:54 1000839 Link 0 |

Was at the Armagh v Tyone '05 and Dublin v Mayo 06 semis. Have the dvd of our '06 win, a great match. Have to say the Armagh v Tyrone game was better game for me. Dublin match was them going ahead for a bit then us go ahead for a bit. Ciaran Macs matchwinner was a thing of beauty. At the end of the day neither Dublin our ourselves were ranked as top teams back then. Armagh and Tyrone were top sides and having seen Tyrone get robbed in the Ulster Final, they were not going to be lying down in that game. The intensity and hits were unreal. Seemed to go score for score all game with supporters on their feet roaring at the other supporters, an electric atmosphere I never saw before or since in Croker Park. Canavan talking the ball from Mulligan and slotting the winning point as easy as breathing was class too. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 8100 - 01/08/2011 18:14:53 1000871 Link 0 |

The Sunday Game's coverage of Limerick v Wexford in Portlaoise 2 weeks ago did not do the game any justice whatsoever. It had it all, great defending, free scoring forwards, points from all angles, a late goal, a sending off, controversy for both sides. Barely any wides in the whole game, the ball was also in play a phenomenal length of time. Final score of 1-18 to 1-17 echoes a high standard hurling match, and 2-25 out of 2-35 was scored from play. 1 point victories are always incredible, but this was a special game and regardless of what county you were from, you could have had no complaints about the level of entertainment and quality in O'Moore Park that night. bob_dolphin (Limerick) - Posts: 694 - 01/08/2011 18:40:46 1000900 Link 0 |
