Very enjoyable game, oh why didn't mullane take his point, only be a point in it then. Great game though.

so true killarney87 they have both made it difficult for their team at times , when dec prendergast first received the ball in space he ran into a group of kk players lost the ball , soon after brick received in space , gave an awful ball straight to kk , up the fiel ,fennelly-hogan goal! its waterfords own stupidity that is their down fall

I would have thought wford given the games they had should be sharper ,this will bring kk on a lot but tipp look far superior than anything else on show this year

Kilkenny being made favourites by a lot of bookies regardless of who comes out of the other semi-final.

bad performance by both teams , like tyrone i feel waterford have a lot of players at the end of the road ie prendergast x2 , browne , kelly ..........they also have alot of poor hurlers that arent good enough ie jamie nagle , liam lawlor , stephen molomphy , shane osullivan , shane walsh , prendergasts .............the other problem with waterford hurling is while they have lots of players coming through they dont have any particularly outstanding talents coming through , look at their u21 team this year which had so many senior panelists and were beaten by a poor tipp team this year

It was a workmanlike performance from the cats. They are not the force of old, the cats in their pomp woild have won by 15 points plus. Waterford only had the one forward, Mullane deserved another all star he was excellent. Kilkenny will be a major obstacle in the final for tipp or the dubs but they are definitely beatable. Tipp have hardened in the betting to win the all ireland, they are now 8-15, 11-8 for the cats and 25-1 for the dubs.

I fear some tipp fans are taking their eye off dublin slightly, judging by some of the texts into take your point, let's just win this game first.

Your some joke boy..If We had another great forward like a Paul Flynn or a Ken mcgrath we would of won today..both teams were not poor it was a massive battle something ur county wouldnt be able for whether your Dublin or Limerick u would of been blown out out of.

decent effort by waterford. great credit to Semaus Prendergast who mopped the floor with jj delaney, i'm totally confused why he was moved to the opposite wing. Mullane as expected cleaned hogan. Waterford couldve won had they played good low cross field ball into the fujll forward line.

Amazingly Waterford cleaned KK out of it in the air in the first half all over the field. Disgusted with KK continuing cheap shots, consistently chopping on players hands. They surely dont need to resort to that. Cody continues to persevere with TJ Reid which is surprising. Their whole full back line while not totally exposed today looks weak and Pj Ryan should surely be in goals. Rice has to partner Fennelly at midfield imo and playing Larkin at full forward backfired again. Power in there causes panic in the opposition defence. Shefflin for me is what won it for them today, they are relying heavily on him. Options off the bench seem limited, Brennan looked an ageing player all year and no youth bar fennelly has been brought thru up front, and he still has a bit to go. For me KK are a spent force...they struggled to beat a waterford team who i'm sure they will admit arent even near as good as 08. heard a lot how kk were changin there tactics of low ball in front of the forward line....certainly didnt happen today....Tommy Walsh among others are great to creat space but his long high looping clearances are never going to suit the likes of Richie Hogan and Colin Fennelly. Back in an All Ireland but as a KK man said to me last week...its time for a change in the top job

They'll up their performance a good 10% on today, just a question whether dublin or tipp can cope with it, i dearly would love to win it this year, last year was special but this would be even better. Let's sort out dublin next sunday.

Unfortunately John Mullane was the only forward to significantly take the fight to Waterford. Unfortunately they seem doomed with the "best of the rest" tag. Pity to see Tony Browne probably retire without an All-Ireland medal.

Were you even watching the match?

"Mullane as expected cleaned hogan"
Brian Hogan was a contender for man of the match. You do realise Mullane only scored 1 point off Hogan and Hogan scored a point himself when marking him. Mullane did most of his damage on Paul Murphy in the first half. Hogan cleared more ball and was as solid as a rock. he was a big loss in the final last year, probably bigger than Henry.

"great credit to Semaus Prendergast who mopped the floor with jj delaney"
JJ won that battle. How much damage did Prendergast do? Sweet F. all.

"Amazingly Waterford cleaned KK out of it in the air in the first half all over the field"

I'll give you this on our half forward line where we seemed to win very little if any ball but Waterford won hardly any clean ball off our forwards from the air either.

"Cody continues to persevere with TJ Reid which is surprising. "
Again I'd agree with you. TJ has disappointed and was very poor yesterday. Lucky we have an ample replacement in Paddy Hogan.

"Disgusted with KK continuing cheap shots, consistently chopping on players hands. They surely dont need to resort to that. "

Typical Tipp bs. What about Eoin Kelly's chop on Ollie Canning last year. Benny Dunne's attempted decapitation of Tommy. I could go on. Tipp are no better and no worse than us. Everyone is at it. It is a man's game.

"Pj Ryan should surely be in goals"
Are you serious? Herrity is much solider than PJ and has to be in contention for an all star.

"Rice has to partner Fennelly at midfield imo and playing Larkin at full forward backfired again. "
Good one. A right comedian. Cha will replace TJ at midfield if anyone. Larkin was magnificent against Dublin at full forward and for much of yesterday was on the half forward line. He was left half forward for all of the 2nd half.

"Shefflin for me is what won it for them today, they are relying heavily on him."
Henry had a poor game by his standards. he seemed to be only 80% there on a couple of occasions but his 80% is a lot better than most. He wasn't pivotal to yesterday. Mick Fennelly was much more important. I'd actually say it was one of Henry's poorer games by his standards but then again he is the KING, the greatest hurler ever. You couldn't have been watching the match if you thought Henry won the match for us.

"Options off the bench seem limited, Brennan looked an ageing player all year "
Paddy Hogan was very solid when he came on. Brennan created plenty of chances and will come back and haunt you.

"For me KK are a spent force"

6 all ireland finals in a row. I bet many a man from other counties would love to have this "spent force" representing them. I'm looking forward to the 4th. Hopefully we'll get a crack at ye.

One final comment and that was Barry Kelly had an awful game. KK couldn't buy a free. Henry was rugby tackled at one time and the Waterford backs seemed to be allowed to hold, pull down and climb all over Richie Power without fear.

Whilst it wasn't a great performance by KK with a number of players playing below standard, the main thing is we got the job done. Now fingers crossed we can stay injury free. Losing Henry, Hogan and effectively Tennyson last year critically wounded us. It will be a different story this year. Come on the CATS!

tHIS WILL BE THE 16TH EVER aLL iRELAND HURLING BETWEEN tIPP AND kILKENNY

it will then be 11 wins for Tipp to 5 wins for Kilkenny
then Cody Shefflin and co. will retire.
In my opinion Henry is finished his legs are gone and he cant turn.

It may be Kilkennys 6th final appearance in a row but they will have lost 2 of those in September whereas it will be Tipps 3rd final in a row and will have beaten Kilkenny in two finals in a row.

Roll on the drive for 5 for this Tipp team!

For about five minutes before the second Kilkenny goal, Waterford looked like they might be in with a shout. Thought Cats did look a bit vulnerable at that stage and there was potential if Waterford had been able to spread the ball around on the wings and into the corner.

Instead they seemed intent on playing themselves into trouble with short passes. Time after time a Waterford player gave a short pass to a team mate who was in no better position or sometimes already with a stripey lad breathing down his neck! You might win one, or two or three hard balls against the Cats but to hope to ride through six or seven of them en route to goal is not going to happen!

Thought Cats as someone else has said were 'workmanlike'. Ferocious in the tackle and able to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Waterford tried hard and I thought the half backs were good and Mullane ran his heart out. No real threat from full forward line in second half.

Cats are not favourites tb. Tipp are - 8/15.

Betting for final, however, will be something like Kilkenny 2/5 - Dublin 3/1 ;-)
