Cork are Overrated

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

When Cork come up against a more defensively organised team, then questions will be asked. So far, they've beaten the same bad teams that they beat last year and ironically lost to the same good one. It'lld take a lot more more craft and guile to break down a Dublin or a Kildare in Croke Park, and if Goulding is added to the growing injury list, then I wouldn't be confident at all of them retaining their All-Ireland title.

limerick should have beaten cork last year booboo , so your point is ? a dubious free at the end for limerick with a mixed decision as to whether it went over or not also

I was wrong about Down - no problem saying that. I was misled into thinking they had improved from last year. But a tame exit from the Championship for them, and a few struggles against lesser teams hardly lessens the argument that they were a one hit wonder. They'll need a few backs to reach those heights again. Lucky for Cork, those gaps in defence were there and the missing forwards were not needed.

Down were a beaten team in the 2nd half, if Pete Fitzpatrick had have scored the goal early in the 2nh half probably would have been a different game buts lets be honest Cork were more impressive overall.

"more impessive overall" they were the only team on the pitch and with a second string foward team

We did what we had to do today. It was a very complete performance.Alan 'Connor was outstanding all over the park as he was against Kerry and Fintan Goold slotted in very well. Donnacha was awesome up front and the two Eoin's coming into defence shored up the backline. Cork are OVERRATED by who i'd like to know,we were pillared by Joe Bolley after the Kerry game!

As a Corkman I don't get this constant whining from fellow Corkmen about how "we don't get the credit we deserve." Who gives a monkeys, Sam on the dresser, league already in the bag without breaking sweat, looking to be peaking at EXACTLY the right time once again, scoring 2-16 from play in Croker without 3 of your front 6 (where most people would have you believe we are at our poorest).

Why do you need validation from people outside Cork? None of them counties bar 1 have beaten us in 8 years. You know how i know we've become a great team?.. When I saw Kerry celebrating a Munster title in Killarney like it means something to them...

I agree monkstown but even though we won last night handy im not sure how many more key players we can afford to lose im not sure any team could ship such losses and expect to win! imagine kerry lost cooper donaghy and declan o sullivan? or dublin bernard brogan and.......well i cant think of any other good forwards they have BUT you get my point

Was at the match last night. Superb team. Absolutely fantastic. I'm seen the last year live as well and they're definitely the best team in the country in a long long time.

Cork are not over-rated and will win the A.I. !! They have a big strong panel too and yesterday proved that Coonihan has the men to replace anyone who is injured !!

in my opinion if any team has been overrated this season it is kildare but you only beat whats in front of you..fair play to cork they were too good for Down, far too quick and powerful but Down were careless on the ball and didnt play the way you would expect them to in Croke Park, no midfeild and a poor enough full back line and too much aimless kicking, Cork were class seemed to create a lot of chances and didnt miss too many, was hard to watch

I'd be happy enough to see Cork talk themselves up to high heavens, they haven't won anything yet, winning Sam should be a lot more harder for them this year than ;last year.

This article on Cork is worth a look, highly debatable stance . . http://thescore.thejournal.ie/brolly-slams-primitive-cork-and-calls-canty-overrated-183849-Jul2011/?utm_source=three&utm_campaign=feedlink&utm_medium=feed.

Cork played very well no doubt. Cadogen is a class act and huge additon in full back line . Paddy Kelly quality assured player at 11 and a bit under-rated, don't think O'Connor wil do the business often enough against the top sides and Goulding is better in my opinion. Fintan Goold is a good find aswel. Cork definitly won't be far off but Down's lack of hunger and dismal display must also be factored in but overall a resounding performance. Down were a huge dissapointment this year and maybe could now turn to Pete McGrath to pick things up
