Overhyped??? By whom??? Even Liam Bradley stated after the game at the weekend that most teams left in the draw would be happy to get antrim next, hardly blowing antrims own trumpet now is it??

Nobody is hyping up Antrim.

Whats the point of this thread?

OffalyBigBall take no notice this is from a bitter down hurling fan who blames venues for his own team being minnows in hurling.

Antrim have earned their place in Round 3. Hat's off to them for that. It'll be a big game for them against Down.

Antrim were unlucky the past two summers in the qualifiers. Having been put out of Ulster by Tyrone in 2009 and 2010, they immediately faced Kerry and Kildare respectively. They very nearly beat Kerry and they took Kildare to a replay. They deserve a bit more respect. For me, on a good day, they're better than many others.

Well there's definitely no hype coming from within the county this year nor in a lot of years to be honest. We know we're not world beaters but we also know that we have a decent enough team though I know personally there's a frustration that we're not producing a more consistent team given that we have a sizeable enough GAA pool and decent enough players.

Yes the draw has been fortunate enough to us this year in that we've drawn teams that we could have hoped of beating but its giving the team a few more games under their belts and, although we will be underdogs against Down, there should be a confidence within the players that they can progress. If the prospect of a match against Cork isn't enough to give the players that extra bit of motivation, added to the advantage of a home game then I despair.

Eloquently put.

I am aged 58 and Antrim have been in TWO Ulster finals in my lifetime. To reach an Ulster final most years you need to win two games.

They went 18 years without winning a championship game and the club delegates at the county board said they were happy the ways things were when they had a meeting to discuss the introduction of the back door. 18years without a win, and the clubs were happy?

Now I know I am moaning on many threads about the instant world we now live in, with a different greatest player and greatest team EVER every Sunday, but where in the name of Allah did anyone come up with Antrim being over hyped, football or hurling?

Now, the talent is there to do reasonably well at football, but the will is not, and never will be.

So the thread is obviously a wind up, or by one of our "instant" success friends.

Does getting mentioned that you're playing the weekend constitute being 'over-hyped' these days?

A lot of people seem to think so and would prefer if nobody talked about any teams, or even anything GAA related lest it become hype.

To be honest i think its the down footballers who are over-hyped, down supporters dont look past antrim because you's wont even get a crack at cork. Antrim by 2 points

Ah Antrimman why are you adding to the already massive and out-of-control hype surrounding the antrim football team?? that is just playing into our poor (never hyped :)) neighbours hands haha

The ground only holds 30,000 but there are plans to have a large screen at the pitches at Shaw's Road to accommodate another 30,000.
