typical Dub comment, I think you'll find there is a very large Irish population in the UK (and growing weekly thanks to the situation back home)and would love to be able to watch some GAA over here without having to pay for it. I guess Setanta and now Premier Sports have always held the rights for the GAA coverage in the UK, hence Sky have never shown it, Its disppoint that they don't have a highlights game liek you used to be able to see on Channel 4.
As for a fix for London, I doubt that very much, GAA in not just London but the GAA in the UK and worldwide has never really been promoted as well as it can, always has seemed that the GAA are happy to keep thing as they are instead of developing the game abroad. The development of the GAA in foreign countries has been more to do with teh individuals involved rather than a conserted effort by Croke Park. Admittedly things have improved slightly with Joe McDonagh being appointed to head up oversea's development.

does rte cover county cricket in england? then way should sky show the gaa? its a perfect example of the inferiority complex of gaa people when they have to strat a thread when they get a mention on a 24 hour news station- says it all really. london beat fermanagh, an average club team would beat fermanagh so i dont know what anyone is harping on about the success of london- if celebrationg failure is a good thing well then so be it

NO IM BEING HONEST GAA IS AN IRISH SPORT.
its a farce having new york in the championship i wont say london because they do travel to ireland to play but what exactly is the purpose of new york in the championship they play one match for the entire year.they dont play league matches and sure therees nobody for them to play challenge matches against so why do they play in the championship to give 1 referee a holiday each year.its not going to take off in any other country because there quite simply ireland does not have any media outlets in other countrys to promote it.they would have to invade the uk and make them speak irish and force them to play our sports to get it to work.
all sounds familiar doesnt it

my God are some people embarassed that we have two of the best sports in the world, they are sports we should be trying to promote and have more people watching/playing, I play Gaelic and Aussie Rules in London and you'll find the aussie guys love watching the Gaelic. Also you will find a poster on Hoganstand called Tongo, who has no Irish connections but fell in love with the game and watches all the games and travels quite a distance to Ruislip most weekends to watch games. Maybe too you should read up on St Pauls academy in South London, who backboned the South London team that one one of the Feile Leagues a couple of years back, most of their team are from non Irish descent. Mickey Harte is a patron for that school and has been over a number of times to see them and he cannot speak highly enough about how the are promoting the game in teh non Irish community (liek Peter Canavan)
I am sure if there were enough people in Ireland interested in cricket RTE would give it some coverage (I do believe you will find teh cricket results in the Indo etc), likewise there are enough people in the UK interested in the GAA for SKY to be showing some small amount of coverage, maybe if they did then the interest in the games by more non Irish descent people may grow.
People should also remember some of the people who have plied there trade over here in the UK playing GAA, Michael Collins, Sam Maguire, Jason Ryan, Darren O'Sullivan to name a few. Finally I think you will find Londons roll of honour is more impressive than many counties back home, 1 All Ireland Hurling title, 3 Senior B, 5 aLL Ireland Junior Hurling, 2 Rackard Cups, 6 All Ireland Junior football titles, 2 Ladies Juniors titles. Robert Emmets also won All Ireland Intermediate Hurling Club title.

I agree I don't think you should be allowed to play GAA unless you can trace your ancestory back too before the British invasion or Ireland, we don't want any undesirables playing our games!!! Also I think all posts on her should be as gaeilge rather in this foreign tongue that has been forced upon us.

Hill16no1 you clearly have never lived a long way from home. The GAAs pride is in bridging that gap

No one was begging you simpleton. It's not long ago the Dublin footballers were over here for a training weekend, and played a challenge game at Ruislip. Maybe you're annoyed Sky Sports News didn't come out that day. Ever heard the saying 'any publicity is good publicity'? London GAA needs all the help it can get, so enough of the negativity.

We want to promote the GAA abroad so this is obviously a good thing. People are moaning about it just because Sky is British. Get over it
