The Fixture List: Very Unfair on Antrim

I agree with you about the Limerick situation.
That is a pure joke.
The association could've handled this an awful lot better

Limerick's dual players have to make a decision whether to play hurling or football on saturday, now that is a joke.

Completely. You have a situation where lads have no games for weeks on end and then suddenly they have to decide between playing one of two codes on the same day. It is obvious the GAA have little or no regard for accommodating dual players, or even dual supporters which is shameful.

Well whatever chance the Antrim supporters have of getting to the football and the Hurling, spare a thought for those Galway fans have no chance whatsoever. Hurling at 4 in Limerick and Football at 7 in Navan. The Antrim plight is not satisfactory but it's a bit better than either Limerick or Galway. Limerick players are affected and Galway fans have no hope of making both games. What's the fan base like in Antrim? Is it likely that there will be a small enough attendance at the Hurling with dual supporters opting for the game in Casement?

patrique, it makes logical sense that the fixtures suit the stronger counties as this is where the real interest is in the GAA. Counties like Antrim who do not have success cannot dictate the fixture list. In all fairness there wont be too many GAA supporters losing sleep over Antrim and Carlow. Limerick will hammer ye in hurling so don't make that ridiculous journey you are talking about.

Diego i think the general consensus is that any county being affected by this mindless scenario has our sympathy, there have been several references to other counties. It is a shame for Galway as they always have a big dual support and im sure many would have tried to kill two birds with the one stone if possible.

My wee frankie celtic friend I was commenting on the thread title and typical poor mouth antrim supporters

I am not sure if the administrator of this site is a "poor mouth Antrim Fan" but he/she came up with the title. When I submitted it MY title was simply "The fixture List" But if you want to bad mouth the administrator............

Because I was illustrating that this particular scenario was unfair on LIMERICK as well as Antrim. Hence the suggestion to toss a coin. Limerick footballers play at Limerick, Antrim footballers play in Belfast, if Limerick win the toss Antrim hurlers go to LIMERICK, if Antrim win the toss, play the hurling at Casement.

The thread was also to illustrate that many many counties are affected by this.

And thanks for agreeing with me.

That's the spirit and the answer is no one from the Free state if you look at the elen-a-side forum and the thread on Irish teams.

It seems that Armagh V Tyrone was an all British final, according to Hogan Stand posters and....gregory campbell.

And me, of course.

and hopefully my buddy, Ulsterman.

Sorry Billy but you're a bit late with the 'lets be negative about all things northern' approach as there are several on here have been at it for quite a while now. Maybe you could reinvent yourself as some other internet chatroom 'type'

Limerick have the same problem on Saturday. I'd just call it a drawback for having fallen into the qualifiers, it's going to happen and get on with it.

I think the only way to stop this happening is for dual counties to call up at least one token dual player so the gaa will have to stop this nonsense. Galway should call up Alan Kerins to the football squad so the gaa would have to refix one of the fixtures

What a pathetic man you are patrique.I always want to see antrim do well and the other counties in the north in the football. If the other provinces were as competitive as ulster in the football then we could have a great all-ireland series

OK heres my take on it, th GAA had two (logical) options imo, 1. Play it where u can get more fans, i.e. Thurlas in a double header with the other qualifier or in Limerick with the footballers, or 2. Play it where it would be better for hurling, i.e. Casement Park..... Bringing this match to parnell park is nothing short of a disgrace, 90% of both teams supporters arnt going to travel and i wouldnt blame them. Losing money for the GAA and doing nothing for the profile of the game.

anyway.... Anyone have directions to Parnell Park?..
