I agree with you about the Limerick situation. OffalyBigBall (Offaly) - Posts: 635 - 06/07/2011 10:33:25 976011 Link 0 |

Well whatever chance the Antrim supporters have of getting to the football and the Hurling, spare a thought for those Galway fans have no chance whatsoever. Hurling at 4 in Limerick and Football at 7 in Navan. The Antrim plight is not satisfactory but it's a bit better than either Limerick or Galway. Limerick players are affected and Galway fans have no hope of making both games. What's the fan base like in Antrim? Is it likely that there will be a small enough attendance at the Hurling with dual supporters opting for the game in Casement? Diego (Meath) - Posts: 1205 - 06/07/2011 10:52:28 976032 Link 0 |
patrique, it makes logical sense that the fixtures suit the stronger counties as this is where the real interest is in the GAA. Counties like Antrim who do not have success cannot dictate the fixture list. In all fairness there wont be too many GAA supporters losing sleep over Antrim and Carlow. Limerick will hammer ye in hurling so don't make that ridiculous journey you are talking about. bbilly (Galway) - Posts: 414 - 06/07/2011 11:04:13 976045 Link 0 |
Diego i think the general consensus is that any county being affected by this mindless scenario has our sympathy, there have been several references to other counties. It is a shame for Galway as they always have a big dual support and im sure many would have tried to kill two birds with the one stone if possible. Limerick have the same problem on Saturday. I'd just call it a drawback for having fallen into the qualifiers, it's going to happen and get on with it. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8859 - 06/07/2011 19:33:03 976725 Link 0 |
I think the only way to stop this happening is for dual counties to call up at least one token dual player so the gaa will have to stop this nonsense. Galway should call up Alan Kerins to the football squad so the gaa would have to refix one of the fixtures Joe Joe (Galway) - Posts: 253 - 06/07/2011 19:38:36 976728 Link 0 |
What a pathetic man you are patrique.I always want to see antrim do well and the other counties in the north in the football. If the other provinces were as competitive as ulster in the football then we could have a great all-ireland series toe2hand (Galway) - Posts: 223 - 06/07/2011 20:11:56 976759 Link 0 |

OK heres my take on it, th GAA had two (logical) options imo, 1. Play it where u can get more fans, i.e. Thurlas in a double header with the other qualifier or in Limerick with the footballers, or 2. Play it where it would be better for hurling, i.e. Casement Park..... Bringing this match to parnell park is nothing short of a disgrace, 90% of both teams supporters arnt going to travel and i wouldnt blame them. Losing money for the GAA and doing nothing for the profile of the game. miketyson (Limerick) - Posts: 2748 - 07/07/2011 08:54:55 976949 Link 0 |
