God the hurling crowd are fierce sensitive here.
It should have been a free out and he should have got a yellow card for it too.
FACT.

Coylers Elbow:

Bit rich really comming form you.... the great meath team in their day should have at least 2 or 3 lads sent off in every match..... FACT!!

Yet your having a go at at canning for using his strenght to shake off a defender, I can tell ya if a mick lyons type player was making him he'd need a cattle prod to shake him off!!

Its was not a free out. Canning just used his strength.

There was zero pressure on him from the Clare defence though. If you let Joe Canning jog out leisurely to the ball take his time before picking the ball up and turning then you're asking for trouble.

Clare's full back line was non-existant on Saturday night. Why was Nicky O'Connell the closest man to Canning? What the banner wouldn't do to have the Lohan brothers back in there! Joe wouldn't have got that shot away with Brian Lohan lurking about!!!

Canning is brilliant but it helps when the defenders decide to stand back and admire him! Having said that the assualt on him in second half was disgrace. Lucky man not to have come out of that with broken nose or worse.

True enough he found himself in the full back line on a few occasions, clare full back line i think feel they have to attck every ball therefore loosing their markers. Happened time and again against galway some times just give away the point it's better than conceeding goals.

If he dropped his hurley, picked up Nicky O'Connell and charged into the goals and out through the back of the net he would also be just using his strength.

Clearly a free out for the push on the Clare back.

Some goal, you can see why people would argue its a free out but nick o connell had his head down almost pushing against cannings chest so he just shoved him aside. Unreal stick work and that was an absolute bullet of a shot. Hopefully he keeps this going against cork. Anyhow a bit of physicality is no harm, a lot of shoulder to shoulder tackles are blown as frees, i'm not saying that was a shoulder though. Reminds me of a goal damien hayes scored vs tipp in 05 how he shrugged his marker aside.

Class act, great goal. Very unassuming off the pitch signing hurls for young fellas after the game. Great ad for the GAA.

Coylers elbow,

A Meathman talking about the legitimacy of any score is extracting the urine to say the least, full marks for neck anyway.

great goal but you wont see him do it against a good team.people seem to think galway are back as contenders.they are in for a rude awakeing.galway looked so good because they were let.they are still not good enough.worst clare performance in a long time and management were worse.
