Tommy Griffin has five All- Irelands but I don't think anyone would say he's as good as say Darren Hughes from Monaghan who has won nothing.

That shows you don't need All- Irelands to be classed as better than someone.

Tommy Griffen always produced the goods when needed. Suffered a lot of injuries and still was close to MOM of three All Ireland finals. Highly respected defender (and midfielder) also. One of the most underrated players of the past ten years.

If you don't know him, don't judge him.

booboo I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Brogan having potential? He won the Player of the Year and Dublin didn't even get to the All- Ireland final.

Did Matty Forde win the Player of the Year in 2008 when Wexford reached the All- Ireland semi-final? NO..

So I don't know how you can say any of them would be as good as Brogan.

Anyway, does it matter about how many All-Irelands you win?

Tommy Griffin has five All- Irelands but I don't think anyone would say he's as good as say Darren Hughes from Monaghan who has won nothing.

That shows you don't need All- Irelands to be classed as better than someone.

He won GPA player of the year in 2004 and Wexford didn't even make the Q/F stage

What makes him better then the likes of Mattie Forde, Dessie Dolan etc

Id say he was better then him. He's played full back, half back midfeild even as a half forward and held his own how many other players can say the same?

This was started as a new thread but as the subject matter is the same it has been incorporated here.

Duckegg

Gooch v Brogan

I heard a few boys debating this in the pub today. I think anyone with two eyes can see Cooper is the better player. Not saying Brogan is a bad player as both are a mile better than any other player in the country.

Let both of them throw their All Ireland medals on the table and then start the discussion again.

Brogan is EVERY bit as good as Cooper, regrettably the only difference between the 2 players is Gooch has played on a team that have won All Irelands.....Bernard is pure class .....why is everyone sooo reluctant to give a Dublin player credit where credit is due....

As a Dubs fan , Bernard is our best forward. and a legend. I'd love to see him getting an AI medal. But the fact is the Gooch is probably the most naturally talented forward in the last twenty years. His ability to kick off both feet with accuracy is incredible. I love watching him play as long as its not against us. Hes broke our heats on more than one occasion.

Everyone gives Bernard the credit he is due - he won POTY last year for his efforts. He is the most praised player on the Dublin team too.

But to suggest he's as good as probably the greatest footballer of all time is a bit daft. Cooper is a rare breed not only in Gaelic Football but in sport as a whole. No current Gaelic footballer compares.

But Brogan is a fantastic forward too. However one thing that I picked up on that Stekhli said yesterday. Brogan is 27, a year younger than Cooper. Why did it take him until 2007 to break into the Dublin senior setup? At the same age as when Brogan finally got his place on the Dublin senior team, Cooper had two All-Irelands and three AllStars.

For consistency year-in year-out there's no-one close to Cooper.
