Always liked the Offaly, Cork, Tipp and Down jersies. Down tops are particularly appealing when worn by blonde haired females. Sorry Carlow you don't do it for me and neither does Roscommon or Clare though I am sure they are lovely people in those counties.

958258 "To be fair, and i may be a bit biased here but Galway's new football jersey is our nicest in years.

Hurling jersey isn't that bad aswell."

Would the football and hurling jerseys be the exact same or is galway different?

Jersey, crest, ruling board, sponsor all different. There are a small band of supporters who in fairness follow both codes (I'm not one of them) but in general there is very little crossover. Also there is no club that is competitive at senior level in both codes.

You sound like you're on the pull there Ulsterman, I hope Carlow, Roscommon & Clare's women aren't too disappointed

As Only Hurling said Hag, Galway are i think the only county competetive in both football and hurling to have different jerseys and sponsors for both codes. I have both jerseys and like both of them, but with a bit of luck i'll be getting a lot of use out of both of them this year!!!!

Yeah the rastafarians from Carlow have always had nice geansais and the current one is a nice design, honourable mentions desering to Clare, Wexford, Galway football, Kilkenny, Louth, Offaly and the new Tipperary one is a much better effort that the previous incarnation. Most of the worst efforts are supplied by Azzuri, Donegal, Laois & Waterford, Donegal especially, look downright awful and try so hard to be stylish that they end up looking the total opposite. Donegal & Waterford both had lovely jersies under O'Neills and one can only hope they return under that banner some day. I wouldn't be a huge fan of the current Mayo one, I have seen better designs, as I have with my own county who seem to have adopted the no collar design as a regular feature. The Atrmagh one also jars me, too much white in comparison to previous efforts. The retro looks seems popular with counties and I think we will see a lot reverting to that design over the coming seasons when a change is due.

Theres many an attractive girl who looks well in a nicely fitted GAA jersey.

Best: Monaghan, Sligo, New York, Armagh, Kildare

Worst: Limerick, Fermanagh, Laois, Clare, Tipperary, Offaly (the red sponsor in the middle looks out of place)

Is our away jersey not the all purple one? the hurlers definitely wore it a few times in division 2 ie when playing antrim. must say i quite like the purple and gold mix because at least its different. no offence to the counties but theres too many green and gold and blue and gold counties. Personally i've always like the down mix and although theres a couple of them the blue and white counties always look well - they brighten up a crowd anyway!

On a slightly different note, why do some adults wear jerseys to GAA matches. I'm fine with kids wearing them but only adults who earn the right to wear them on the pitch should have jerseys on. we are not soccer or rugby supporters.

that has to be one of the worst comments i've ever read on this forum. Some adults may not have had the ability or chance to do so but yet have been following their county through thick and thin for years. Does this and their pride alone not give them the right to wear their jerseys? theres nothing better than looking around Croke park or any stadium and seeing a great splash of colour so don't be bloody ridiciulous

That is a terrible point. I wear my Clare jersey to all games. Its about showing your colours and hence letting your team see the support they have. It provided motivation. I have heard a few people give out about people wearing jerseys in GAA to games and I cant understand it for the life of me.

Why would you think this should be a soccer trend only? What is the real problem with people wearing jerseys. Are you embarrassed to wear your county's colours?

Totally agree onlyhurling. Seeing older people wearing jerseys looks terrible. Also women wearing jerseys and roaring abuse at players, referees, etc. puts me off going to matches. If this is the culture of modern Ireland then I don't want to be a part of it!

onlyhurling, I've admired a lot of points you've raised on this forum, I think you're a good poster but that comment is absolutely unbelievable. I'll happily wear my Wexford jersey to any Wexford match, my Leinster jersey in the Rugby, My Ireland jersey in the Aviva - it's about showing your colors, showing your support to your team regardless of what sport

Wearing the team jersey is the most common & basic form of supporting your team, if you demanded GAA fans stop wearing jerseys to matches because they haven't 'earned' the right to, I would dread the backlash you'd get

I will elaborate on the Carlow jersey origins: It came from when the county football team was first formed (not sure of the exact year) but at the time there was a debate over what the colour of the county jersey should be. At the time the two best teams in the county were Graigecullen (Red & Green) and Milford (Green and yellow). They decided to amalgamate the clubs jerseys colours to form the 'county' jersy and the rest is history.

Please dont anyone from Laois come on here now and start the whole Graigue thing. They were playing in CW at the time and still should be if they were able to have manners!

Looking forward to seeing the county colours in Croker on the 26th!!

Ok, points taken but maybe it's just I'm form too old a generation, people wearing jerseys to matches has only started in the last 15 years.

1798man, I'm not 100% on this point. Wexford definitely played in White & Purple in the past against Antrim for example, I was at matches when I saw that jersey

But at last year's Division 2 final, they were wearing all purple - I had never seen that shirt before until that day. It might be a case where they changed the away shirt or perhaps the all-purple shirt is a third strip (though it's usually only soccer/rugby teams that have a third strip) a third strip that is dark as opposed to the brightness of the other 2, I don't know to be honest

Where could I get my hands on one of those purple shirts anyway d'yknow? They're nice
