GAA Jerseys - best/worst?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I see a few counties have updated the design of their jerseys yet again this year, Dublin, Cavan, Donegal, Tipperary to name a few, I know some due to change of sponsorship, others for the design element of it or so it would seem - this is all getting a bit Premiership-ish though, don't you think?

My better half is from Cavan and I bought her the new jersey brought out for last year's league & championship but I see they've upgraded it again already! (No offence Cavan, but you're not exactly the Man U of Gaelic football are you?)

Jerseys typically are €60 a pop, should there be a cap on this sort of thing, say shirts only change every 2 seasons or something like that?

As for the cool jerseys, Kildare is quite nice, Tipperary is quite flashy but in a cool sort of way, Monaghan shirt is quite dashing (unlike their forwards, hardy har, just kidding) & Sligo, Limerick & Antrim are nice in the simplicity of their designs.

As for manky jerseys, I have to say as much as I love shouting for the purple & gold of my native Wexford, they're not colors that go well together. I don't think Red & Green go well together for Mayo either. I think Dublin's new jersey leaves a bit to be desired, too much sky blue, not enough navy & that Vodafone logo looks kinda planked on there, if you know what I mean.

Watching the Cavan v Donegal match on Sunday though, I have to say that the Donegal goalkeeper's jersey was beyond horrendous.

Carlow always goes down well when am on holiday in the west Indies, Downs away strip last year was hideous but I guess if your team gets to an all Ireland final it don't matter a dit if your gear is up to much as long as the players wearing it is.

Sadly we spend too much time on making the best jersies than playing but I would have to say that I think ours are the best closely followed by limericks new one.I also like dublin wexford and antrims is quite nice also

All it was missing was having shaws as the sponsor... but have to say I like the retro look.

The Dublin jersey would look much better without the logo on it, I actually prefer it to the previous one which was brutal. Have to agree that the Limerick jersey on Sunday was really cool.

To be fair, and i may be a bit biased here but Galway's new football jersey is our nicest in years.

Hurling jersey isn't that bad aswell.

I'll agree aswell about capping the amount of times a jersey is changed, surely you should get at least a couple of years out of them before they are changed.

Carlow's jersey does seem popular but I don't really see why - it's basically a traffic light on a jersey

(That's not a dig ahead of our Leinster semi Carlow, just don't like the clashing bright colors, that's all)

And true, Down's away jersey was awful, those yellow sleeves, ugghh, but we all know they wouldn't have given a monkeys if they'd won it

Limerick have returned to the plain dark green with white numbers, I like it cos it's not flashy I agree with poster regarding Donegal Keeper jersey and the wexford mix of purple and gold is just not nice. I remember the Keeper jersey for Armagh good few years back by Benny Teirney was so colourful it would dazzle you and the county board were made alter it.

In Kerry we have the Green and Gold which most of the fella's wear but look out for the girlies on the TV at the next Kerry game most females go for the Blue Kerry Away jersey which is extremely popular down our side of the field. All county jerseys are however over priced, I cannot see why these jerseys cannot be sold cheaper through the clubs where the club can make the profit as opposed to the retailer - Just a thought.

I'm sure Cavan brought that jersey out in 2008. I stand to be corrected.

I think Cavan's jersey is the best. Don't see why people like the Carlow jersey, looks a bit hideous to me...

Hmmm, Cavan jerseys have actually proven to be useful (& consistent) xmas/birthday gifts for herself over the years so I was pretty certain it came out after championship 2009

But, you're from Cavan & I'm not so the benefit of the doubt is all yours, it's nicer than the current one in any event
