Michael Murphys sending off

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

never a red, there was lots of hussle and bustle from both sides, and the collision was nigh on harmless, embarrasing from our POV. the meath lads red was no red either.

a foul is a foul, murphy was stupid to raise his arms and contact the player, stupid to do it right in front of the official, and worse still everyone knew that the ref was going to look for a chance to even things up. Clever of the cavan man to make the most of it, infact it was the only clever thing any of our players did all game.

cavo1, cheating is not 'clever', it is unsporting and dishonest. If that chap had any self respect maybe he might contact the ref and/or CCCC and point out his cleverness and thus allow Murphy to play the next day.

At first I thought it was at best a yellow but if you watch it again he lifted his elbow a second time as to strike an opponent I think the ref got it right.

Terrible call.
Cavan's red card was very serious though and i hope he is dealt with. That chap should be kept off a GAA pitch for many a day.

I think this incident was very clear - the Cavan defender thought he'd rough up Murphy (Given his youth) with the old shoulder charge, Murphy naturally retorted with the same, The Cavan lad couldn't move murphy an inch so took the only option he felt he had open to him - hit the deck.
Murphy in no respect raised his hand. He's a big strapping lad,not one anyone should try to start pushing around.
The only embarassment for the Cavan lad is who he decided to push around, he hadn't the wit to work out murphy is an immovable force, can't imagine anyone fit to knock him over.

Hopefully this will be recinded - great player Donegal are blessed to have him.

You cant go shouldering people in the face, its a red by the rules and the ref made his bed by the soft earlier sending off.
Suppose donegal have their excuse now when Tyrone hand them their arses on a plate in the semi final.

If it wasnt Micheal Murphy I doubt anyone would be whinging. Correct decision especially after a harsh earlier red card.

Fly kicking someone in the chest does not constitute a 'soft sending off.'!

Jacknoff way off the mark again! Cavan boys would want to harden up a bit falling around the place like overpaid soccer stars with their socks pulled up to their knees!

The only player falling around was the no mark Donegal holding his face in a flood of tears after a little kick in the stomach.

You should be rubbing his poor tummy today.

cavo1, cheating is not 'clever', it is unsporting and dishonest.

yet Gaelic football is all about cheating, doing what ever it takes to win, winning and winning at all cost. The GAA condones cheating, turning a blind eye when it wants to, Ask any Louth supporter if cheating is rewarded in the GAA, were Louth not cheated out of a leinster title. Last week the Monaghan Manager subbed out a player destined for a red card, is that not cheating? week in week out the amount of off the ball hitting that happens in every game, is that not cheating. In a game that clearly describes how you can fairly tackle a man when he has the ball, we still think it is ok to hit a man without the ball. Leitrim's number 3 yesterday, deliberatly stood on an injuried roscommon's hand, is that not cheating. so please get off the high horse and be honest, it happens every week, the cavan player was cute, got Murphy to hit him and went down like a sack of potatoes.

That 'no mark' has an all star ad two league titles to his name something yesterdays Ceeeeeavan players can only dream of. The kick was to his shoulder about 6 inches away from his face luckily enough. Shows you what kind of players are in Ceeeeeavan!!

No sending off, hopefully the CCCC take of their cork jersey for a sec and quash this red card straight away and make a correct decision for once.
