Cavan team to face Donegal

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Kevin Meehan is a very honest respectful young lad and in his defence anytime I have seen him play and train in Breifni he has been honest and hard working.

This Donegal will beat the current Tyrone team they are not as bad as people make them out tom be. The tactics they use are different but they are effective. I bet if you ask any supporter including me would you prefer to be in the qualifiers or the last 4 in Ulster I would take the last four would you. Call it negative football as I have but you have to admire Donegal they know how to get from A to Z and this is whats its all about is it not.???

Kevin Meehan was the only Gaels player I suggested other two were from Redhills.

With all due respect it is ridiculous in making nonsense comments about the Gaels. Just calculate (a difficulty for Jacknoff) in the last decade the numerous senior and underage titles they have won. By far the most successful team in the last decade. If the Gaels are light and useless what does that say about the rest?

Cavan were well beaten on a bad day for football and against a much better side. This is a Division 1 side who fancy their chances in Ulster, it would be a huge ask for such a young Cavan team to beat them.
The answer to the defeat is not to start the usual "Dump the players dump the managers" routine. The management in place are to be given a few years to make progress, we need to stick with these players, learn from the loss and hope that with hard work we can make progress in the Qualifiers and next year's league. Hard luck to the Cavan players and management, hopefully they can pick themselves up and beat Longford now.

I think everybody in cavan knew the only way to beat the donegal system was to move the ball quick and what did cavan do instead of passing players decided to take that extra touch or hold on to the ball longer and at that stage their would be four donegal men on top of him.can't belive I spent 27 euro to watch that.

Ive nothing against Meehan. But he is not the answer, he would not significantly improve the team. He has plenty of years to change that.

Gaynor should be in team and Sean McCormick. This team doesnt have the nastiness we need.

We need more punches not pushes.
More passion not fashion.
More tactics not tic tacs.

Miami Vice, you would think you would be celebrating. Donegal dont win many Championship games and wont win another this year.

Cant wait for Tyrone to destroy the arrogant, rubbish Donegal. About 4 good players the rest should pack it in.

agree der very poetic as such but in the truest sense as well, we need to be more aggressive in the tackle and der was little or none of that shown today...

Kevin Meehan is a great talent, definitly could be used as a squad player at least, and another player to bring in is perhaps Niall McKiernan. Including Leddy and Moynagh in this, at least the physical size is increasing. And all talented footballers. The players are there, just felt Val's way of bringing them all in at the one time was wrong. Hopefully the league can be used more effectivly next year and maybe a couple rough diamonds spotted in the Championship. Agree that there is too much negativity on these pages but one poster is also getting carried away and making a fool of himself on the main forum. A bit of realism would be better suited.

"Ochonlir, you should manage our county team. You sound like Arsene Wenger talking about 27 year old "young players". As usual these "youngsters" never grow."

In response to "Blue Revolution I dont want to hear about Arsene Wenger and other nonsense about young boys. This is a GAA forum.
Go off to Terry Coyle and practise you might make the team yet. "
As you see you brought up Arsene Wenger you pathetic useless fool. I am over forty years of age, did my time and played first team football for the Gaels. Time to move on.

apart from McCutcheon and McDermot to an extent, the rest of the team were disgraceful. Cullivan should have been left off when he walked last year. Lyng did nothing but pass the ball back. Givney seems to have gone backwards, his passing was woeful. Johnston stood around waving his arms. We have nice footballers but nice footballers never win anything. No spine in the team, missing gaynor and the likes of the crowe's from lacken but if they are the best that's committed/available/have handy jobs, they should be stuck with and stuck in the gym from now till next May.

This Donegal team will beat Tyrone despite what we might say about being negative this Donegal will be hard beat. If camera evidence is used I would say Murphy may well appeal his red card.
What I liked about this Donegal team when in possession of the ball they moved forward with a purpose. Its whats its all about winning. Good luck to Donegal in their next match. Best team won on the day. Sean
