I would argue the point, but.......

It's unbecoming for a Down man to allow one-self to be drawn into such a debate with mere commoners ;)

Ye , that's two in 15 years. Anyway it was rhetorical.

Down have only 5 All Irelands, and as for last year, sure weren't Kildare robbed by a Coulter square ball .

Sam02, I'm sure Armagh would be glad to have as many as Down have.

Kerry are the aristocrats of Gaelic football. Despite how easy it is for Cork or Kerry to reach a Munster final compared to Leinster or Ulster, they consistently perform at the highest level & have won the most All Irelands.

I've always hated Down being called the 'aristocrats' in modern times, especially since it's been so long since our last great year in 1994.

Luck alone does not get you to the All Ireland Final. When we got the goal that shouldn't have been, Kildare kept fighting back. Kildare's goal should have been blown up for overcarrying. Only Kallum King's fingertips prevented a Kildare win. We got to the All Ireland through more than luck. We have a good team. Benny, Marty, Danny, McKernan, etc, all played a vital part.

No wonder they sent a delegate to Croke Park to meet the queen

Down were very goodlast year, they played some lovely football especially in the first half against Tyrone, they pulverised Sligo, hammered kerry, played well against Kildare ( yes benny's goal should have been disallowed but so to the kildare's goal] and were only beaten by a point in the final.
in my opinion they had a very good team in the final - but cork had a far better bench

armagh outclassed them on saturday night in nearly every sector - but can anyone really predict who will go further in the championship down or armagh,
the next match v derry will give us a good indicator if we progressed or was it a flash in the pan! - the down defence was very weak, both mcardle and rafferty were big losses
roll on june 19th

I think people are underestimating how good Armagh are. They survived in Div one without their Cross players and seem to have gelled well.Good defensively, strong in midfield with scoring forwards. Not the Stevie one man show any more. Dont be surprised to see them feature in late stages on Championship ( along with Down)

Armagh beat Down last year too so the result is not so surprising that there was a repeat this year. Going through the back door did Down no harm last year; shame Marty may be going back to Australia, like his style of play. Mind you Noel O Leary had the better of him in the Cork v Down league meeting this year.
