Clare have little chance against Tipp

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Brendan Maher will possibly get a bit of game time in the second half,if it goes down to the wire he won't be brought on, but if tipp look secure with 10 minutes to go, i wouldn't be surprised to see him brought on.

958642 brendan maher is fit , just tipp dont feel the need to use him , thats a decent clare team and bench , no buglar , quinn , ryan , collins .........dont know much about cathal mcinerney besides the fact that he played for ard scoil ris last year at wing back so he must be a talent to be already on the senior team , mcmahon is ssort of clares version of john obrien , hes a good goal scorer mcmahon is and he makes up a dangerous looking ff line along with mcgrath and the mercurial darach honan , dillon will pick up corbett has similar attributes in pace and height , cooney on obrien and vaughan on kelly

Good training session for Tipp before the Munster final win!

oh and by the way Patrique Tipp also won 3 in the 50s and Wexford won 2 so what exactly is the point you are trying to make?
Nobody seems to understand you

Ah, such youthful enthusism where everything can be measured in ....medals and trophies. Meaning Fogarty of Kilkeny was better than say Nicky English, as he has more medals? Doesn't work like that.

Team of the 1920s? Dublin, 1927.

Team of the 1930s: Generally recognised as maybe the "best ever".....Limerick.

Team of the 1940s: Cork

team of the 1950s: Generally recognised as rivals to that Limerick side of the 30s and considered in any discussion of the best ever, Wexford.

Team of the 1960s. Tipperary 1964/65.

Team of the 1970s: Limerick

Team of the 1980s: Galway:

Team of the 1990s: Clare: (and yes, Kilkenny 92/93, Offaly and maybe even Tipp in 91 were better SIDES)

Team of the Noughties: Has to be Kilkenny but you could make a great argument for....Waterford.

Now to save ye the trouble of Googling bar Cork in 1940s and obviously Kilkenny recently, I don't think any of the others won more all Ireland's than other sides.

All based on IMPACT.

And by the way, a decade has ten years, not 5.

I thought me self and stekhli were having a decent enough ould discussion on current teams and players until pat and the boy blue decided to bring 50's and 60's hurling into it again.

P.s

Outside the Tipp Clare game I fancy the dubs to beat galway! Dubs have brady back they'll need him against JC (who i still think will put up a decent score). Farragher's a big loss dubs have a strong midfield as is tanion been impressed with him this year showing a bit more heart in games even in the tipp league game he was about the only galway player that kept plugging away. But then again this is galway you just don't know what they'll do in the day. When their good their very very good but when their bad they are horrid.

166 posts on this game.

Look at it like a horse race, follow the form guide.

In the league Cl;are LOST to Laois, who then LOST to Down.

In the championship last week Down LOST to.......Armagh.

Given that form guide how could Clare possibly lose this?

for some reason or another i just think clare will do alright , i like their team and i like their manager , sparrow is quite astute i feel and is one of the few hurling managers who weighs things up and thinks about things rather then effing and blinding and not acting with raw emotion all the time ie davy fitz and daly , sparrow is more like donal ogrady and cody , hopefully tomorrow his players will show us hes the real deal

Sparrow a very successful club manager won 3 county titles in a row with Adare before took Clare job not a bad cv for managing a top tier county club team before you think of writing juvenile or belittling comments about Limerick hurling and Clare players , Clare legends Sean Stack and Sean Hehir were successfull managing Toomevara a few years back!Anyway see how it goes tommorrow ye hot favourites thid young Clare team give it a real lash, nothing to lose.

Still a load of manure being spread all over this thread by the usual suspects :)

The last two meetings between Tipp and Clare have been close affairs. I think Clare will throw everything at us and will push us all the way. But the fact that we have had a tough match with Cork under our belts should help us over the line.
