Geraghty and Fay back in for Meath.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

When I watch Meath play what frustrates me is the lack of ball or quality of ball the forwards often get, they do often feed on scraps,as for Dublin they are generally more mobile around the pitch, and are better than Meath in all other positions, all in all Dublin have a better all-round team, but individually Meath have better forwards, and have forwards who can come off the bench and make a better impact,Dublin don't really have that,yet..

I know a lot of Dublin supporters that do agree with me,and do say it's Dublins biggest problem.. Maybe that will be sorted this summer though who knows?

Ziggy...

Im not being smart but..

1.National League - Your point being what ?

2.most of Meath's first team forwards missed most of the league - Rubbish excuse. stop beating around the bush for excuses. Eoghan O'Gara missed 8 weeks for us through suspension. Bernard didnt start against Mayo or Down. Alan Brogan didnt play against Cork , Paul Flynn didnt play against Cork. Cullen didnt play against Kerry or Mayo. If you going to use pathetic excuses like that , Then so will I.

3.Fitness - Dublin have been fitter than most in the league. - Well who's fault is that for teams not being as fit as us ? you can be as fit as a fiddle and still conceed bundles of goals , heck , Your lot scored 5 against us last year and that was against a team who where training since january .. sometimes twice a day.

4.Croke Park - Big open spaces in winter? - Take Croke park out of the equation and we still scored 18/19 goals in smaller county grounds including parnell park , salthill and the athletic grounds. And although we played in croke park , We played there against The all ireland champions , A full strength Kerry team and last seasons all ireland runners up ............ oh and mayo.

Stop making excuses , 30 goals so far this year in competitive action at any time of year shows how good a team has been at breaking down defences and punishing back lines.

**NOT EXACTLY IMPORTANT , ITS NOT LIKE JANUARY - MAY MEANS AN AWFUL LOT TO EITHER TEAM , IM JUST SAYING OUR FORWARDS IN THIS CALENDAR YEAR HAVE BEEN THE BEST IN THE COUNTRY NOT ONLY LEINSTER AND ALL THAT COULD AND MOST LIKELY WILL CHANGE IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS/MONTHS**

Wayno..

Yes I agree your forwards have being the best throughout the league,I guess I just judge a team based on the championship.. I don't think O'Gara is any good in truth, head down and very awkward, lacks any technical ability..
I'm not running Dublin down though! I rate them the 4th best team in the country!

Ziggy - Gilroy must have used the guts of a dozen forwards in the League, possibly more - and you reckon they have nobody to come off the bench? There's a lad named Alan Brogan with three or four AllStars in his pocket, who was struggling to get his place on the Dublin team for a long time. You might have heard of him.

The ball into the Meath forwards can only go in one way, sky-wards. The selection of attackers Banty has made available to himself has almost compromised the way we must play. These guys you rave about require near perfect delivery.

it's actually, meath always play better in the proper games in the summer so we will see who has the better forwards then

_______________

jesus calm down there you are only correcting me on not spelling out words properly because you know that the statement is actually right because our forwards will be better in the real games in the championship and they are the ones that actually matter right now

LOYAL...

In fairness Alan Brogan hasn't been as good in recent years,it would be an insult to him to say he has.. Farrell and Bray can get in front of their men,you don't have to lump ball into them..
Pat Spillane reckons Paddy O'Rourke is capable of been the new Donaghy (I'm not sure bout that but the potential is there) Joe Sheridan is a classy operator who is one of the best goalscorers in the country and can score points from long range, the same with Shane O'Rourke he can score from long range..

very narrow-minded decision to bring back geraghty at this stage of the year and his career imo...McEnaney will be ran at the end of this year.

Geraghty decision to come is a joke.He was a great player in his time.He will be only be used a an impact sub and more of a pyschological boost to the team. You would have to think if meath fail to make an impact in the the championship even after bringing Geraghty back he is going to look like a fool for coming back...

just heard unconfirmed reports that Liam Harnan and Barry Callaghan have resigned as selectors. This is going beyond a joke!

Banty is clearly working for the CIA or Mossad.

It seems meath are ripping themselves apart. selectors are jumping ship now? to be honest i could never see an "outsider" doing well for meath. could do worse than get boylan back.

still cant believe oul gerathy is back, meath is in dark times at the minute but if gerathy is the boost they need good luck to the chap.recent articles say he is playing some good club football but been out of main action for the guts of 3 years is a big ask of him
good oul rivalry between the dubs an meath so hopefully we meet in the leinster final.... :-)

Well well, it's all starting to come out in the wash now. I had half an idea all was not well in the Meath camp and this only confirms it. Results have been unacceptable and even worse has been certain performances. Apparently this has all to do with Geraghtys return ( a backward step ) and their (Harnan & Callaghans ) non-consultation. If Banty has lost his selectors, this tells us all is not well in the Meath camp and an unhappy team leads to bad performances, posing the question, could they be any worse?

Be interesting to see the next development. Will Meath end up having a Limerick Hurling / Fermanagh football situation?? Looks like it's heading that way to me.

Happy days :)

Was taking to BallsMcQ today, he was in mighty form with the news that's coming from the Meath camp.

I actually had to tell him to calm down at one stage as I feared he would do himself an injury.

Gerathy was a great player in his time. That was yesterday. This looks to be the final throw of the dice for the year of a proud footballing county. Meath will come again but not this year and definitely not on the back of Gerathy returning.

We get them in Croke Park in two weeks and are going to hammer them out the gate. Its going to be a slaughter. Its going to amount to a light workout for our meeting with the Dubs.
