Geraghty and Fay back in for Meath.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Graham Geraghty and Darren Fay have been invited back into the Meath panel by manager Seamus McEnaney.

This development must be a major concern for all Meath supporters, these lads are well into their 3o's and haven't played inter-county for a while now.

Frankly this development doesn't surprise me at all.

Happy Days.

two unbelievable footballers- fay was the perfect fullback i absolutely loved watching him play- there isnt anything evn close to him playing now. geraghty well that fact that the dubs hated him so much was a mark of how great he was

Both are still playing club football,Fayser lined out at midfield for Dunderry at the weekend in club championship and Graham was very influential at full forward in Athboy's win.

Squid, well into their 30's is an understatement. Geraghty is 38 and Fay 36. Both still play club football at intermediate level with Clan Na Gael and Dunderry respectively and playing effectively from all reports. While were at it why don't we get Tyson (Tommy Dowd) back as well, he's playing with Moynalty, a Junior B club and heading for his mid forty's. Soemhow I'd imagine it's some kind of ploy to get a crowd to Rosemount tonite for the challenge match but I suppose stranger things have happened in the past.

This has to be a hoax. They may have been brought back in an adviosry capacity to keep a continuity effect from the old guard into the new. They would also give banty some insight to how Meath used to tick as a team while combining the new structure. There is no way they are back to play. That would send out the wrong signs to the youth coming through.

Still if GG walks bcak on to a pitch with a Meath jersey on him, i might just shed a tear.

I hope this is a wind up lads,he must have no fate in the squad of players that he already has, disgraceful if this rumour is true

This has to be a hoax. There maybe something to the rumpur in that maybe Banty has brought them back in an advisory capacity. They would also be a link netween the old guard and the new guard. If they come back on the panel it will sned out the wrong message to the youth coming through and indeed to those who lost their place on the panel.

Still if GG runs on to a pitch with a Meath jersey on his back, Miskasa gloves tucked into the top of his shorts matched with his shooting boots, well i might just shed a tear.

Where is it coming from?? Nothing coming out from the Meath camp at all.. Would make more sense Trevor Giles coming back and even that would be a mistake.. But honestly can anyone seriously say they believe they will be on the playing staff??

He sat with his brick, carefully applying the Kerrygold, then Squidword offered the inedible ingot to the Meath posters who promptly swallowed it whole.

ah I suppose Brian Stafford and Mick Lyons were unavailable.... still though don;t know many current full forwards who would relish the prospects of coming up against Lyons even at his age.. one good 'tackle' would still do it.

The 1999 All-Ireland SFC winning captain Graham Geraghty has made a sensational return to the Meath panel ahead of the Leinster SFC quarter-final against either Kildare or Wicklow on Sunday 5th June.

However, the Clann na nGael man, who has been in excellent form for his club, is not expected to play any part in the SF challenge against Westmeath in Rosemount tonight.

Ballinabrackey's Chris O'Connor and Longwood's Mickey Burke have been recalled for tonight's challenge and they will be hoping to produce enough good form to earn a permanent recall ahead of the Leinster SFC.

Rumours also suggested that Darren Fay was set to re-join the panel after a two year absence, but that will not be the case.

Tonight's SF challenge in Rosemount will feature 25 players with 18 other players particpating in a high intensity training session at a secret location.

I've just heard from a pretty reliable source that they genuinely are back training with the squad. Geraghty's back, happy days! :-)
