The rules are not 2 clear then....I wasn't born in Donegal, I work in Dublin all week and come home to play for my club in Donegal, am I breaking any rules? We know from other counties that players have lived in mobile homes in other towns just so they can play for the bigger clubs!! I would be concerned by the fact that 150 kids turned out on sundays at O'Donnell Park. Even if you put out 3 or 4 teams you are still not providing opportunities for the rest. My home town has 7 senior clubs and is controlled by boundaries, however poaching is still widespread...the bigger clubs always manage to get their man. Can't see anything changing in L/Kenny anytime soon. I think the problem people are having with you Tom is that you are an outsider coming in and trying to rule the roost...mite be a different story if you were a townie....

I do not agree that Letterkenny should not be split.
If you take any other region in Donegal that two teams operate in a well defined area is marked out for both.
Look at St Eunans and the Gaels club area now .It extends from Carrs of the Diamond to Garryharry to Drumkeen to Manor and back to the Moorefiel;d junction.
This entire region should support six teamss.
Look at Naomh Coloumba and Killcarra what population have both of these?

Letterkenny Town has more people that is likely to play or support GAA than what Fermanagh has .
Letterkenny has one Senior Team who has to poach players/Officials from all the surrounding teams/Clubs to keep going.

tomsmith will you please stop trying to keep this topic running. You obviously have an axe to grind with St. Eunan's but this is becoming really embarassing. You are making yourself sound like a bitter old man. And leave the Gaels out of your pettyness.

Boudaries is not the way to go lads. It just makes no sense at all. Eunans have a good underage structure as do the Gaels. The problem is the Gaels are still a young club and want to be a senior club overnight which is a bad attitude! Think Tom Smith should kop on and look at the facts good players who have moved to the town made their own decision and could not have been forced to join either club they want to play at the highest level and that was proper order. Also the Gaels officials are all Letterkenny born and bred are they??? Check that out for the crack

Tom, this argument is a non-starter. No amount of resuscitation is going to make anyone go for it

Naomh Ultan ABU and Mr Man would both of you desist in posting drivel .
As this site can be viewed worldwide it is a poor reflection on you both that you have to engage in a negative campaign against any poster on Hogan stand.

great to see tom is still around
lads please i have been trying to talk facts with tom for a while now and no point to it

as for this debate
LK town has a population of 25000 people
would say that of that only about 5000 people are involved in GAA affairs
the town has in my opinion 3 teams
St Eunans lk gaels and glenswilly now we live in a free country and people have a choice as to what club they join

eunans are one of the top teams in the county
lk gaels are aclub building for the future
glenswilly could be a force in the years to come

Could someone tell me that resides up in Letterkenny what the population og the St Eunans Club area is.
I feel that 50,000 would be more like it.
Is Mannorcunnigham in th e Letterkenny Club area ?

would say the 3 letterkenny clubs boundaries could be form termon to drumkeen and from fintown to rathmullen so you could say 50000 yes but dont worry about figures lads just the football

yes if a player can produce some sort of bill to show that he is resident in that area but that might have changed

sure why not if a player wants to play with any of the teams in donegal north east what should stop him/her

change it and we shall see what happens all the half decent players will be snapped up by the better teams and what would happen to the rest..........
a whipping match every week

look at the ulster senior league ect ect
there must be 30 clubs for an area from cresslough to drumkeen and what do they achive do the local teams ever win any thing no

but tom try and get all the boundaries changed and we will be smashed in 10 years

Tom if you are so worried about StEunans having a Club a border so to speak then raise that issue with the county board and see the answer you get.
As for Glen swilly taking players from the center of the town I say it hasnt happened yet.
Please do not use the Mark Mc Gowen issue hear.He may have lived there but he is with the right club now!!

On the fence you talk a load of B--L.
In every town rural or village in Ireland each team has a boundary or catchment area.
I feel that St Eunans could be described as a super team.
