I have two Muslim friends who are quite liberal. Both complete Ramadan yet they do take a beer or two. One of them gave a book entitled " the life of Muhammad". An excellent read and quite enlightening. I assume that it is quite like the bible and possibly the Qu'ran in that the stories are to be interpreted as opposed to being literal in their reference. Anyhow, I find the two guys very likeable and personable and any of their friends I have met are exactly the same

Anyway the point i was trying to make was that there are two sides to every story. How the media portrays the situation isn't always exactly how it is especially in the case of muslims.

So Patrique who is this Seanie Elliott? You should go speak with the Saudi government and tell them you know how to reduce dissent and population numbers in one fell swoop.

I know quite a few Muslims myself. The one thing I found with them is that deep deep down, and this will upset many liberals on here, there are many similarities between the extremists and the mainstream Muslims. I went to school, a Catholic school I might add with a Muslim. He was a self confessed extremist, I kid you not. He was from Pakistan and I challenged him regularly on various issues. I recall he had a serious problem with Benizir Bhutto, mainly because she was a woman, and she held a position of authority. He hated her liberal stance, her desire for fostering stronger links with the west and her wish to crush the extremists.
This was my first contacts with a Muslim, and I suppose it embedded a deep suspicion within me about Muslims which I hold to this very day. From what I saw in school with this one guy, it forged my belief that Islam was an all conquering anti-freedom religion. He refused to look at female teachers, he said his prayers openly in class, ignoring directions from teachers. It angered me a lot at the time and everyone seemed to be bending over backwards to accommodate him and his extreme views.
Alas, I have grown up a bit since then and I have met some more Muslims. They were vastly different from the man mentioned above in that they socialised (but dont drink), they listen to music and they played sport. However, I found that once they were engaged in conversation and the topic of religion sprung up, BOOM, there you had it, that old medieval attitude once again. On the surface people can appear accommodating and friendly, but dont judge a book by its cover folks.

Im working in Saudi, in construction with mostly Pakistani Muslim collegues. All of them have extreme religious views, ie agree with honour killings against women and such. Haven't meet a descent one yet! Dont think they like me much either!

what sort of figure might your undoubted tolerence be able to contend with should they decide to come to this Christian based society?

I cannot find the post you say I suggested you were on the dole, not that there's anything wrong with being on the dole, I could do with it myself. As regards what leboski said , I'm not that sure what his point is other than he is against extreme religious views. I totally agree with him, in fact i'have no truck with any religious groups or dogmas. It's just a tool used by evil clever people to control others that cannot think for themselves, its the ultimate in imperialism, it takes over the mind. chrisianity practically wiped out our native celtic culture, but hopefully now that it is in disgrace we regain our own culture in time.
scruffy's post is a bit more clear, he has met some muslims some extreme some not quite so extreme, I have had similar experiences myself, both with christians, muslims and jews in particular. I find his disclosure that he has grown up a BIT the most enlightning part of it.
I take it you find both posts to your liking.

Being a fellow Alpha male I can understand your concern at preserving your dominance over the female members of the troupe.
Unfortunately , nowadays a lot of women refuse to submit to such male dominance and tend to make up their own minds on a lot of issues. You are indeed a lucky man to still live in such a traditional manner.
