These are the same type of crowd who'd be crying out that they are being victimised and discriminated against.

Muck savages, they are a big embarrassment to this country of ours if this is where they are from.

However I doubt they are Irish because even though many of these may have been born and reared in England they'll always be considered to be Irish by the British media.

The PC Brigade goes way over the top in their defence on this touchy subject, I'll say very little on the issue because this won't get posted otherwise but all I will say is simply this, send a few of those deluded, clueless fools into a campsite for a night and see how many come out still shouting about racism and prejudice.

nothing new - these individuals are criminals and nothing else.

Giving the Irish people a terrible reputation abroad. There only one thing to be done with filth like this. Round em all up and imprison them. Not on the streets, not a problem, everyone is happy.

An element from the Travelling Community were recently denied service in a bar in Tyrone (Strabane I think) because they were very drunk and they attacked the bar staff with knives badly wounding a few. It was all over the media here and I believe it's not just the cops who are now looking for them. There is a massive criminal element in the travelling community but it is hushed up because people are afraid of being called racist.

Was watching a show recently on RTE, some Traveller spokeswoman was allowed to go at length about how much discrimination they face. My Politics lecturer recently attacked attitudes towards Travellers during a lecture, said that we, the settled community, are disgraceful.

Load of rubbish, if you ask me. I remember there was a really nice Traveller family living in my hometown, lovely boy and girl (twins) who would have made their First Holy Communion with me. Then their family left the site, and a new family moved in. Every one of them, without exception, was a violent troublemaker. My own uncle's house was robbed by one of them, or so the Gardai told us. Every one of them made life hell for their teachers, several have been to prison and the younger ones will end up there soon enough.

The fact is that the Traveller 'culture' is abominable. Organised violence, cruelty to animals, littering left right and centre, contempt for education, and nomadism. We can never forget nomadism. If I park a caravan on private or public property, it's considered a crime. If a Traveller does it, it's his 'culture'. It's 2011, and nomadism shouldn't be encouraged. We need there to be a strong crackdown on this practice, and we need it now.

Seamus,

What we need is for the ECHR to be torn into shreds, that is where the problem of people being denied justice is coming from.

Why can't everybody just be like Seamus and his version of perfection?

Their antics and cries of false discrimination sicken me.
I know of a travelling family who were given a brand new council house near me who destroyed it. Instead of being thankful they continued living in their caravan and moved their ponies into the house! That is their culture but could they not have declined the offer of a house and let a more needy family take it instead?

I've never said a word about contraception or pre-marital relationships on this forum, as neither of them bother me in the slightest. This thread is about an incident involving a large group of Irish Travellers. I make a comment, and instead of engaging with what I said, you and Dhorse start talking about religion. Do you have some sort of obsession with religion? There are plenty of threads for that stuff, this thread shouldn't be one of them.

Now put forward an idea, comment or suggestion, or else stay quiet.

Ha ha ha, very good monkey:o)

I went to primary school with a long established traveler family who I have to say were the funniest, likeable and most decent people you could ever meet, and I have fond memories of playing with the lads and walking to and from school with them. Alas these people were a rare breed indeed and my views, and experiences, of travelers since are not to be posted on this particular forum. Suffice to say I am in tune with the views of all the lads who have commented so far.

folks travellers dont give the irish a bad name the irish people en masse do a great job of that themselves and we fully deserve our reputation as the laziest greediest people on the planet - and the age old stereotype of the thick paddy is well and truly confirmed on a global stage as we refuse to acknowledge our failings and balme everyone but the person in the mirror

Seamus89:

Being a bit of a hypocrit here aren't you, would they not be from a underprivalaged background more likely make most of their money from non legit means (black economy most of the time)!!! Now adays you don't see as many poor travellers well as poor as they make out they are, I doubt many travellers pay tax and have legit business's (limited companies etc.).

Also I'm in no way defending travellers I have no time for them what so-ever and don't mind saying it (working in bars and hotels and having to deal with them they'd rob the eye out of your head given the chance), I'm more having a go at seamus's view's here you havn't replyed to the other thread yet, how come??
