I knew you wouldn't answer that Tom. Same as the Fine Gael thread, pure nonsense...

bobo still can't answer why he joined an organisation who's aims he doesn't agree with. I was born in Drogheda and my brother was born in Newry, I wasn't aware up until now that my brother was a foreigner, the President of Ireland aswell.! I hear they even have foreigners managing Kildare. There's a Fianna Fail Cumann and office in Crossmaglen, FF really are an international multi-cultural political party. By the way bobo was your grandfather/grandmother not british?

What aims? Just because you keep repeating it, it doesn't make it true!

Correct as usual Seán Óg. I will debate no further with people who join organisations whose aims they do not agree with and cannot manage to read them themselves. Sin é.

How do you know what I do or don't agree with? I haven't taken part in that part of the discussion at all.

All I've done is ask you one question you couldn't answer. Maybe you can find the answer here:
http://www.gaa.ie/about-the-gaa/mission-and-vision/

No not there. Maybe here...
http://www.bc.edu/centers/irish/gaahistory/politics-text.html

No. Just admit you made it up and your silly reply was the only way out.

100% correct bobo North Korea is not South Korea but Korea is Korea.
Southern people should not be mean spirited towards Northern people but as you and the point scoring, doublehop have shown it happens.

Fifa is not the Gaa, tomatoes ain't fruit, the pope isn't qualified for the British Throne and bobo hasn't an ounce of empathy.

To answer the questions about the gaa being a 32 county, promoting a 32 national identity, please go to the Offical guide, Part One, page 4.

"THE GAELIC ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
The Gaelic Athletic Association today is an organisation which
reaches into every corner of the land and has its roots in every
Irish parish. Throughout the Country, legions of voluntary
workers willingly make sacrifices to promote its ideals and carry
its daily burdens. Why does the Association receive this unselfish
support?
Those who play its games, those who organise its activities
and those who control its destinies see in the G.A.A. a means
of consolidating our Irish identity. The games to them are
more than games - they have a national significance - and the
promotion of native pastimes becomes a part of the full national
ideal, which envisages the speaking of our own language,
music and dances. The primary purpose of the G.A.A. is the
organisation of native pastimes and the promotion of athletic
fitness as a means to create a disciplined, self- reliant, nationalminded
manhood. The overall result is the expression of a
people's preference for native ways as opposed to imported ones.
Since she has not control over all the national territory,
Ireland's claim to nationhood is impaired. It would be still
more impaired if she were to lose her language, if she failed to
provide a decent livelihood for her people at home, or if she
were to forsake her own games and customs in favour of the
games and customs of another nation. If pride in the attributes
of nationhood dies, something good and distinctive in our
race dies with it. Each national quality that is lost makes us so
much poorer as a Nation. Today, the native games take on a
new significance when it is realised that they have been a part,
and still are a part, of the Nation's desire to live her own life, to
govern her own affairs.

So should the GAA have started expelling members after the Good Friday referendum then? 94.4% of the South, 71% of the North all voted to have Articles 2 and 3 removed from the Constitution of Ireland which would conflicted with the text above.

The GAA must be an organisation full of hypocrites!

Lads stop digging will you, you're bitter about Cross winning the All-Ireland and are going to stupid lengths to justify your bitterness.

Crikey, no-one has been surrounded by this many Ulstermen since Dara O'Cinneide in 2003. It has to be said I don't seem to be going any better than he ended up that day either. I think I'll follow Spillane's example and write off this whole thread as 'puke football (discussion)' and blame the North for the result!

So, has the GAA failed as it has not achieved its aims?

And Cross winning means absolutely nowt?

I think most people are attracted to the GAA for SPORTING reasons...........
