Congrats to Crossmaglen

Jamie Clarke was the only exception for Cross, thought he was outstanding and looks a quality footballer

So what your saying is the team talk went something like this

"OK boys go out and be cynical except you Jamie of course"

Still awaiting these facts.

Completyely agree Tango, Cross were losing quite badly at half time and going into the break 1 point down they knew they were up against it. Stop talking crap.

Cross historically are not the best team in Ireland, Nemo are.
Cross have been the benchmark team for the past decade. They
Over the past decade, no team can compare to Cross, not even Nemo.

As for the match yesterday, again congratulations to Cross, comiserations to St B. I for one am happy, its good to see Francie and possibly Oisin end their careers on a high. They have both done alot for Armagh football. I have read things about Cross being cynical while I agree that using the knee to keep a player down is wrong (not cynical, but bad sportsmanship) it wasnt done in a malicious manner (McMennamin on McEntee a few years back). However, no mention of this in the papers, what I would consider the most cynical foul was the one committed on Kernan, the play pretty much slammed his head inton the ground, it was the only tackle of the game by a mile that was worthy of a straight red.

Everyone is quick to lay the boot into Crossmaglen, I guess it stems from jealousy of them being so successful.

Tom I think you showed in that Fine Gael thread a few weeks ago that you can't tell the difference between a fact and an opinion anyway so I wouldn't get too hung up about it!

Would that be the input pertaining to Tongo or the input pertaining to you booboo ? And by the way Nemo have not won 25 Munster titles. They haven't won 25 Cork titles.

Anyway away from the begrudgery of some. I noticed that afew of the Cross players made their way into the Hogan stand after the match (before the presentation) to celebrate with family and friends, shows the ridiculous nature of this pitch invasion ban and how players feel about it. By the way the stewards allowed them to enter the stand.

its amusing to see poster fighting over who is better - cross or nemo? these two clubs have records most clubs in ireland can only dream of......in fact 90% of clubs in ireland...their dream is a county title....never mind a provincial or all ireland title.

actually id like to know are any of the poster here actually from these clubs? grow up will ye. both clubs are fantastic.

Half-time team talk probably was along the lines of: "If we continue trying to beat this lot by playing Football we are gonna come out second best. Lets do what we do best and see if they can match us." Face it Tom, you are massively biased toward Cross, so you are bound to disagree with any comments against Cross. As for Jamie Clarke, he looks a class act, end of. Was a compliment.

Some of the comments here need to be addressed -
1. Lets face it until comparitively recently the Munster Cup championship has been the domane of both Cork and Kerry - come out of either county and you will wim munster - since 1971 all but 4 went that route - that can't be said of the other provinces
2.Nemo progressed in Munster even though they didn't win the Co Champ at times due to the fact that Divisional teams cannot progress in provincial championships
3. Clubs in the north don't get the large financial backing that southern clubs get ( and rightly get) through government and national lottery funding,
4. How many non- Cork players were part of the great Nemo teams of the past
5. It is very difficult to compare players from diff eras - the club champ. is stronger now than it was in the '80's and more so than the 70's - clubs are not just content with just with a county championship
6. An often overlooked area has been Cross' dominance with the up-turn of fortunes of Armagh - meaning the better players - O.McC, McEntees etc were always on 'the go' which had to have an effect on both club and county

Are Booboo and liathroidboy twins who were separated at birth ?

I was at the game and it was decent enough for 15 minutes in the 1st half

But generally it was a very flat affair

Haha, funny point to make. I'd love to see an audit of Crossmaglen's finances...

Im sorry but they were not "by far" the better team. For them to be by far the better team they would have had to have won by a lot more than 3 points. At no point was that game a lost cause. The crucial period was the 10 min period after half time where Cross turned a 2 point deficit into a 3 point lead. They upped the intensity a lot in that perios. The goal was the winning of it. 2 things happened in the lead up to it. 1) An armagh player pulled a brigids player back preventing him from intercepting the ball and 2) a brigids player was obstrucing his own payer peter domican which stopped him from blocking the ball. Its not sour grapes or anything Cross did deserve it but they were not "by far" the better team. The 2 best players were Jamie Clarke and Senan Kilbride (Brigids full fwd who destroyed the cross full back line) A player who scores 8 points inc 3 from play is hardly a sign of a team dominated by another.

Well done to Cross, and comisserations to Naoimh Brid, enjoyed both games, but a few gurriers from Roscommon, cant say they were St Brigids fans, almost spoiled an enjoyable day with their anti northern rants.
Nordie b's, etc etc was the norm, and when a Cross player was down getting treatment, the were shouting about " kick the f. out of him", and at the end when a few Cross spectators were trying to get on the pitch, they were shouting at the Stewards to "Baton the.... out of them Nordie B's".
No place for these boys at our games.

Well done Cross. You would have got great odds before the St Galls game. The return of the Cross contingent should really boost Armagh for the championship.
