And when you consider that Cross met the second best side in Ireland, and defending champions, in the FIRST round, it throws things into perspective.

At county level with a back door playing in Ulster doesn't matter anymore, but in the club championship it certainly does.

as I said first round draw this year was Cross V St gall's, with the winners going to be firm favourites to go all the way as they did. Down and erry have also supplied a few winners at All Ireland level, and the weakest sides are usually from Tyrone, so you can see how difficult winning ulster is.

Nemo are a wonderful club, and have always been there and there abouts, so full credit to them as well.

However Cross have won 5 with some players appearing in all finals, so that crop would be possibly the best ever.

The best ever football club may be Nemo.

"It's funny how every journalist at the match missed this. If this is so obvious and factual then St Brigids should make a complaint and ask for a re-match. Their actions will determine if your statement is accurate. I'll say nothing about the constant neck high challenges!"

Funny???? you're easily amused. Re-match????? Any more jokes? .....Why would anyone complain about a the brand of football another team plays with? If it works, it works. It's just not good for the game or enjoyable to watch. Most teams would have a couple of players who are cynical on and off the ball. For example, winning a soft free by going down easily when you've got the ball, fooling the ref into giving it or by making it look like an opposing player is not trying to get up off the ball when he is actually being knocked back down by the knees of those pretending to be not touchng him by holding their hands out. This again fools the ref into thinking the player on the ground is overcarrying. Crossmaglen just have a lot of these type of players and it's difficult for referees to notice unless they are top class. Win at all costs-why not? Nobody remembers how it's won, only that it was won.

i think your spot on. i said before i dont like the way they play. but yes, and as you said, it does work. thats why kilmacud annoyed me the last day out, im not a kilmacud man but they had the game to beat cross and got sucked into a game they were never going to win. it was foolish and im sure they are kicking themselves. cross deserve their title, and are worthy winners but teams need to be more wise to their tactics and antics.

Being a sore loser is such an ugly trait. Cross are very lucky that every match they played in from the start of the Armagh Championship had a bad referee. Do you think a possible solution would be for the opposition to pick the referee? I won't mention the constant neck high tackles though.

well lads if thats the way ye want the game to go we may as well amaglimate with rugby .... but im more optimistic tyrone tried those tactics at inter county level and were sucessful for a period but good football teams figure it out and cream always rises .. its an amateur game it should not be win at all costs

Cork won't be figuring it out anytime soon then! I thought rugby was all you played in the "rebel" county, munster this and munster that, munster munster munster.

You're very aptly named booboo, the bitterness is reeking out of you. Cross are masters at mixing it and playing to their strengths when it matters and that's what usually takes them over the winning line but they certainly have no shortage of fine footballers. They totally blew St. Galls away in Ulster and left the All Ireland champions with their reputation in tatters. Galls were bullied and played off the park and I think some of their players still haven't recovered. Cross were on a mission this year and Armagh club football is certainly no more dirty or physical than many other counties. Wicklow and Antrim club football for example can be very violent at times so the accusation that Cross are the worst is not true at all.

My point is Yogibear that Cross are the best club team in Ireland because they do what most club sides do......but far better. You will get cynicism and physical hits in EVERY county league in the country so don't give us the guff that ONLY Cross, ONLY Tyrone and ONLY Ulster sides do this. You seem angry that once again those damn Nordies won. Go on admit it, as the Scots say "You're pure fizzin".

At last he/she has some facts. Could you post up the facts that the referee, the linesmen, the umpires, the pundits, the analysts, the journalists and the St Brigids players and fans (the ones that stayed behind to see the presentation and who were very gracious in defeat) missed. Remember now it's facts we're looking so players names, the incidents and the minute of the game it took place so I can check myself.

Booboo, 'Cross have won 14 county titles , 8 Ulster titles and 5 All-Ireland titles in 16 seasons. They have won 27 out of 28 major finals. No other football club including Nemo has come anywhere near this. 'Cross have also successfully defended the All-Ireland title. Nemo have never successfully defended the Cork county title in the year they have won the All-Ireland. It may be more difficult to win a county title in Cork than it is in Armagh however it is significantly more difficult to win the club title in Ulster than it is in Munster. Crosses record over the last sixteen years is simply better than anything any football club including Nemo has ever achieved. I don't say this by the way, to be derogatory about Nemo. I admire Nemo hugely.

Were not sore losers...its just frustrating knowing that the lads didnt play to their potential!! If they played the game they played all year we would have won! The title was there for the taken but we didnt do it i'm afraid!! The occasion did get to the lads a bit and it was cross's experience that really won it for them. The teamns were fairly matched really just cross had a bit more luck and experience than us! The lads were devastated last night and they know they left andy behind! But I really hope they stay together and give it another push! Naomh brid abu!

I have to agree with bangedupabroad and a couple of others. The first half was a decent watch with both teams playing decent football. Cross realised they were not gonna succeed by continuing to play Football as St Brigids were clearly the better footballing team, so they reverted back to the spoiling tactics that have made them atrocious to watch. Brigids were desperately unfortunate, as Cross are masters at this type of play. Jamie Clarke was the only exception for Cross, thought he was outstanding and looks a quality footballer. I admire Cross for what they have achieved, but do not care for their style and would be happy to see them lose their title.

Now do you see here you go again. While I agree Cok are a successful GAA county and that Nemo are the most successful club they are not the most successful team.
