The game was missing a certain intensity... It was a bit flat. jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20763 - 17/03/2011 18:01:59 890839 Link 0 |
That is a load of crap. Brigids did not play to their best either and were well in the game. If we had played crokes we would have had every chance of beating ye. Cross got a crucial goal in that 10 min period after half time and that is why they won. If Brigids had played to their potential today and Cross played like that, Brigids would have won but well done to Crossmaglen. Rosfan (Roscommon) - Posts: 778 - 17/03/2011 18:38:38 890859 Link 0 |
I thought St Brigets did themselves proud. Full forward was very impressive. The referee did them no favours particularly in his interpretation of the tackling rule. On a few occasions a number of St.Bridgets players surrounded the Cross player in possession and a free was given against them yet when Cross used the same tactic late in the game the ref blew up the St B's player for over holding. Furthermore the ref let the Cross players away with a number of very late tackles and did not penalise them for kicking the ball away on a number of occasions when a free was given against them. mod (Mayo) - Posts: 859 - 17/03/2011 19:32:34 890893 Link 0 |

Cross are worthy winners and are a first-class team. They can grind out results whenever they are not playing well and like Big Bucks they always seem to be able to get their heads in front when it matters. Congrats to them paddywack09 (Tyrone) - Posts: 150 - 17/03/2011 21:31:04 890973 Link 0 |

Well done Cross. But the referee was poor. Like mod said, the "tackle" was all over the place. Too many cross players kneeling on top of St B. players. Jamie Clarke, even though its only a minor thing, should have been sent off at the end. He kicked the ball away, and twenty seconds later he kneeled across a player. Oisinn's catch at the end was pure class, great player. Thought St. B died a death after Dolan missed that easy free. Ya'd no he was related to the other lad!!! Crossmaglen always looked in control I thought. Maybe the day got to Brigids a little bit whereas Cross had the experience of the big day. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13838 - 18/03/2011 12:02:01 891081 Link 0 |
Cross have an incredible record and I used to admire their style of football which I thought was extremely clever and skillful. This year however I found it hard to warm to them and felt they had become streetwise and cynical and went to any lenghts to get over the line!Just another opinion. noneutrals (Dublin) - Posts: 316 - 18/03/2011 12:37:28 891112 Link 0 |

ive never been an admirer of their style or often cynical approach to the game, but im a huge admirer of their tradition, record and attitude. i too feel crokes left an all ireland behind this year as they were the best side in the competition. thats just my opinion. congrats to all involved in cross. seany16 (Dublin) - Posts: 1663 - 18/03/2011 13:42:59 891162 Link 0 |

fantastic record held by cross, some really fine footballers. they seemed to have more homework done on the opposition than brigids. disappointing to see the amount of cynical tackling by cross. i think the ref was only average for both sides and maybe should've pulled up on the persistant fouling by cross players, particularly on domican and mannion. senan kilbride and jamie clarke were a class apart and easily the two best footballers on show. the game was there for the taking for brigids but the level of cynical and sly tactics employed by cross got them over the line-win at all costs i suppose. amazing how these guys can stay going year on year and turn over county, ulster and all ireland titles-serious dedication and commitment which has to be admired. bangedupabroad (Roscommon) - Posts: 126 - 18/03/2011 14:57:06 891220 Link 0 |
