It funny really when it was deregulation of the industry and introducing competition that lead to electricty prices dropping initially and customers leaving ESB now they want to drop prices even more.... shows competition aint a bad thing?

No its not you Amadan. In the ROI we get electricity from Gas, Coal, Peat, Hydro and wind. The only oil burning plants are in Great Island and Tarbert and they only run as peaker plants these days.

You are spoofing based on a 2 minute news clip you heard on the radio.
Which oil shares do you own if you hold shares in Statoil or BP - they are worth about 2/3rds of what they were worth 5 years ago. If you own shares in Shell you might just be breaking even.

Shares in oil companies are impacted by more than oil price - it depends on where it gets its oil - depends if it is reliant on volatile countries (eg Libya) depends on if it needs to come through Suez canal - depends on whether its activity is front end or back end - ie drilling or petrol pumps - depends on currency Dollar/Stg and depends on hurricane activity etc etc.

Though presumably you will reply and say you bought at the bottom of the market and made a killing - in which case you shouldn't be working from a bedroom in Mayo - you should be trading blows with Buffett and Soros

Surely if the price of oil continues to rise, those "tree huggers" who invested in alternative energy sources will be laughing at you, no?? You must be the only "businessman" in the country with half a helicopter that is rubbing his hands at the prospect of rising fuel charges...
