Booing by Dublin Supporters

The dublin supporters remind of a old stray dog that might turn up on your door step that needs to be petted and have it belly tickled to feel that its loved. 'Who's a good dub, whos's a good dub? You are, you are yes you are, good boy good boy, run, fetch' Do ye feel better now lads?

This booing is standard Dubs supporters behaviour - it's been going on for years and the authorities in the GAA have done nothing about it. Could they appeal for silence? We don't get boos in rugby. Is it alien to GAA culture to show manners? I don't think so.

877858 How can people be shocked by this? It's been going on at games for the 20 or so years I've been going to matches. Munster rugby fans love to shish eachother when someones taking a kick so they can all congratulate each other on how sporting they are but that's not part of Gaelic and never has been. I'm not suggesting it's nice to hear but it's hardly a recent phenomenon and is hardly worth losing sleep over it since it goes on in every other sport except rugby.

Doublehop is on the ball here - I don't boo myself but it happens and there's no point in going on and on about it - I can't believe that Cleb never heard it before at GAA games!

WEll I can tell ye it aint a patch on the booing that our lads receive when we travel to Country venues for League games. Last year in Castlebar springs to mind, nothin short of a disgrace the negative reception and booing that our lads received when they came out on the pitch let alone throughout the game. The rest of ye are all "Saints", yea right.......

You do get boos in rugby, soccer and many other sports it a way for people to express their dis-satisfaction

Booing at free kicks is a bit unseemly but players are used to it and so it's part of their prep
Interestingly players find it off putting when playing munster and Ireland because of the silence so the claps on the back they give themselves every time are for freaking out the opposing kicker. Mumba supporters have plenty of vitriol to dish out especially to Leinster players and supporters

Going to games is an enjoyable experience because we get to vent and applaud and shout and cheer and moan and boo, can the religion police stick to mass or prayer meetings if they are so offended by the reactions and goings on of football supporters

The Dubs are alright!

I have been going to matches since I could walk. I have been all over Ireland and seen every county play at same stage and yes you get a small few clowns who boo the opposition but the vast majority of supporters dont. However on Sat night the vast majority of those sitting around us were booing. If it was for a controversial free or sending off I could accept it but it was every single time a Kerry player faced up to take a free. It was quite comical to listen to some of them. They obviously dont know much about the rules of the game. Or maybe the Dubs just didnt commit any fouls on Sat night.

Well then I really dont see how your original point has any real merit.

You know that booing takes place at every game..

Creb and co.

Get over it .. I don't usually boo even if those on the hill around me do but i did on saturday night. But so what ? get over it folks. It happens.. there is too much of this moral highground rubbish amongst the GAA community. Oh this is wrong and thats wrong , It Shows disrespect to the opposition and a soccer hooligism adopted by the brits bla bla .. RUBBISH , We dont leave Croke park looking for fights and in fact many of the people boo-ing will go have a drink with opposition fans after the game wether we win or lose the game.. All we do is make a small bit of noise to try distract/put off the free taker. 9 times out of 10 it doesnt work anyway because the free taker holds his bottle

We dont do it to disrespect teams. I have the utmost respect for Kerry football and always have nothing will change that. Just cause i boo-ed and hundred/thousands more boo-ed on the hill we are the worst GAA people about ? fair enough it wont bother us once we win games.

Creb, (or is it Crib?) your holier then thou attitude is comical. If people want to have a bit of fun with their kids and boo the big bad kerryman, so flippin what! You should look up reports from Dubs Cork in the semi final last year and all the Cork players saying how they had never experienced an atmosphere like it and how they loved it. Read the Cork fans saying it was the greatest atmosphere they had ever experienced including Cork KK All Ireland Finals in hurling. If booing at GAA games offends you, you need to stay at home, or switch sports, as it happens at all GAA games involving all Teams. Oh and for the love of God avoid Kerry Cork or Dublin Meath games, you would be so offended, you might collapse with the anger!!!!

If you look at old games on TG4 from the 80s you will hear lots of noise when people are taking frees. And not just when the Dubs were playing. I was a child when Dubs and Kerry were in those games in the 70s and the noise was unbeleiveable from start to finish. Look at Mullins taking a sideline in '77. He was being boohed and people were throwing apples and cans at him!

first off is it illegal to boo and secondly whats wrong with it we bring more people to the match so there for we use the crowd asan advantage,if it puts the opposing free taker off and he misses job done its no differant to tyrone and armagh defenders talking to the opposing forwards about there wives or mothers or sisters to put them off, there is no rule for either.if your playing at home your supposed to make the larger crowd count to your advantage.

to the limerick girl most of the booing on saturday night was directed at the frees because of the ref being completly inconsistent as a neutral like you say can you honestly tell me you thaught the ref had a good game there were four or five frees that were blatent and he didnt give them to dublin and also cooper was fouled and 2 seconds after he swung an elbow back into dublin players face and the rule is you lose the free for doing that and what did the ref do nothing he didnt even talk to copper about it.he seemed intent on getting a draw for kerry
