women are members of and officiate at many levels within most clubs, that's true even if Camogie and Women's football are in the mix. ochonlir (Cavan) - Posts: 4343 - 24/02/2011 21:13:50 875929 Link 0 |

"Girls"might make up a sizeable membership of clubs, but when they are playing official camogie or football it is under the auspices of those associations, except the odd case of girls playing underage. dhorse (Laois) - Posts: 11374 - 24/02/2011 21:25:07 875949 Link 0 |
if you read the initial post it was quite clear that womens football is not under the auspices of the GAA the suggestion was that women were in some sort of Andy Gray suspended animation but I'm saying that there is more than sandwiches to be ascociated with women and that there is a great and vital involvement by women as it should be and is! ochonlir (Cavan) - Posts: 4343 - 24/02/2011 21:58:48 875986 Link 0 |

if you read the initial post it was quite clear that womens football is not under the auspices of the GAA. Thats what I pointed out in above post also, which is in contrast with your assertion that "girls make up a significant percentage of the playing members at most clubs" dhorse (Laois) - Posts: 11374 - 25/02/2011 14:17:38 876266 Link 0 |

Drawing a line between the female and male associations is pure symantics. In the last few years the likes of Angela Walsh, Rena Buckley and Briege Corkery, etc who have won dual All-Stars and probably more All-Irelands than the most celebrated of Kerry men when you combine their medal totals from both Camogie and Football and they deserve a place within the association and deserve the credit normally only reserved for their male counterparts. doublehop (Kildare) - Posts: 4172 - 25/02/2011 14:37:16 876295 Link 0 |
