"aesthetically pleasing footballers" For me its Micky Linden, Peter Canavan, Ciaran McDanald, Maurice Fitz, Michael Donnellan, and Mattie Forde. Currently Danny Hughes is an excellent runner with the ball and is lightning fast ballybannongael (Down) - Posts: 547 - 21/02/2011 14:21:15 872562 Link 0 |

Has to be Daragh o Se or Willie Joe Padden for me. Sorry I didnt see more of the latter to be honest. I find nothing more aesthetically pleasing in the game than a man being able to field a high ball and these two men were champions at it. Forward Peter Canavan did it both in good and bad Tyrone teams for over a decade and did it at both ends for the team; redhanding (Tyrone) - Posts: 4 - 21/02/2011 16:13:43 872727 Link 0 |
Peter Canavan - Over the last 20 years there is not a player that comes close, what a player, not what you would describe as the ideal build to play Gaelic Football but he never let a defender physically bully him! He had skill to burn, an all time great, even watching the international rules his battle with the aussies he was no push over he give as good as he got. Used both feet and terrorised opposition defences! Deserved more All Irelands. The Meath team of 1996 seen the threat of Canavan and tried to end his footballing days but he came back stronger and his goal in 2005 all ieland final was a credit to the man.
