Ta don't listen to these "nueva republicans" with their ever so concerned about everybody elses feelings nonsense, they would give ye the skitter. Its called having no back bone, they would rather accommodate everybody and please nobody. If the players don't want to stand for the anthem then they shouldn't be on the team, its that simple.Funny how nobody ever demands that the "Soldiers Song" ever gets played in Windsor park before N.Ireland soccer games to accommodate the players of an Irish republican/nationalist persuasion. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 04/02/2011 20:39:29 860686 Link 0 |

Do you guys ever realise that you are just as bad as the curb painting unionists you purport to dislike so much. You make everything about nationalism and getting one up on them. It's pathetic lads, seriously. bad.monkey (USA) - Posts: 4655 - 04/02/2011 20:51:01 860700 Link 0 |
Bad monkey it's kerb not curb. All countries play their anthem before international sporting events. They do so with pride. By all means accomodate the Ulster players wearing the green of Ireland and play Irelands Call. If our anthem is good enough to play in Landsdowne Road/Aviva then it is good enough to play in Murrayfield, The Millenium Stadium, The Stadio Flamini, The Stade de France and Twickenham. Playing the anthems is a very important tradition at international sporting occasions. Our anthem should be played at away fixtures. its so true the gombeens on here are more interested in politics than sport- any bit of oneupmanship on the unionists they will try for it every time- its complete true ye are as bad as the curb painting unionists in fact ye are 100% the same- sad very sad. rugby is lost on ye gombeens as its a game based on respect and that is a concept alien to ye. to hear people spout on that is they dont want to stand for the national anthem (which it isnt anyway as it only represents 26 counties and its a pathetic biggotted song) they shouldnt be on the team- so basically what the finers are saying is their politics should govern who plays for ireland- sad sad sad people thank god the good rugby people of ireland noth and south are not as pathetic liathroidboy (Mayo) - Posts: 4921 - 05/02/2011 09:51:30 860779 Link 0 |

I find rugby really boring. I do watch it a bit and I have to say Ireland have given me some great thrills down the years. I never got into the munster thing. Seemed like a bit of a fad to me. People who aren't even members of their local rugby clubs trying to buy tickets to a munster match in france. Seems stupid. Have you ever met a GAA man who goes to county games but not to club games??? hurlinspuds (Cork) - Posts: 1494 - 05/02/2011 12:22:01 860846 Link 0 |
Ta im sorry but you may think like alot of people in the north the mindless killing is perfectely acceptable, which is what the song represents, i on the other hand dont want to be associated with such crap- how does this make me pathetic? in fact it makes me the exact opposite, does it make me more irish to sing a song about killing people? liathroidboy (Mayo) - Posts: 4921 - 05/02/2011 12:43:30 860853 Link 0 |

Ah, rugby, the game of the working man. Been drawing huge crowds for at least ten years now. May its success continue long after the present crop of players retire and the team goes back to being the 5th best in Europe. Seamus89 (Kilkenny) - Posts: 3848 - 05/02/2011 15:12:42 860931 Link 0 |
