..............if people dont contribute to society well there should be no safety net and they should be let die off.

No you are exempt from the humane attributes of caring and compassion. You were obviously first in line when selfishness was being handed out.

It's incredible how threads end up being about something completely different to when they started out. To get back to the matter at hand, rugby is a silly sport for the middle class elite. That fact, that FACT, has to be emphasised again and again.

can you give me a reason why i should pay someone way in life regardless of their circumstances? what has compassion or caring got to do with anything- my family and my bank balance is enough to care about!

Why then Littlerod do you pretend to be upset about the people who died in the "troubles" in the north. If you only care about yourself and a few others then please don't be faking anger at what happened up here.We know you are selfish and self centred for sure now as nobody with a heart would speak like you,a soulless empty person who loves money.

you clearly don't know what a 'fact' is and seem to think by capitalising your nonsense it somehow makes it more true. As for the 'middle-class elite' how can the middle class be elite, by their very definition they are the middle class and not the elite, they make up the majority of Irish people, most GAA people are middle class as most Irish people fall in this bracket...in fact your post is probably the stupidest post on every level that has been posted on here for some time

its fairly exciting to watch Ireland play but football and hurling are much better sports in my opinion and i still think that rugby is quite an elitist sport

I have to say I have being a late lover of the game. Im absolutely hooked now. The collisions, the physicality, the wonderful running angles that they take up and the different styles. I lived in Austrailia for a year in 2004 and New Zealand for a year in 2007 and I have to say Super 14 rugby got me hooked. Of course I used to watch Ireland games before that and Heiniken Cup matches as well. I'll never forget in 2004 watching Loti Tiquiri (playing for NSW Waratahs) and Tana Umaga (playing for the Hurricanes) running into each other at breakneck speed and the impact of the collision between them. You could hear the sound of the impact all over the stadium but the two of them just picked themselves up and got on with the game. Its a man's game.

Its an amazing game and I appreciate what the players leave out on the field every time they play and I've grown to love the game for that main reason. I'm from North Galway as well and it dosen't matter where you are from as long as you get enjoyment out of watching it. I know some people dont like it but that's their own opinion an they are entitled to it.

Sport is an amazing part of our lives and I for one would not be able to function probably without it. . .

excellent post Mon- rugby has absolutely everything as a sport and what it teachs you for life in unparalled - its not a coincidence that rugby players are for the most part highly educated people, its not luck that they do very well in life for themselves- some people just dont understand the game or refuse to as they believe the wearing a socttish soccer jersey makes them more irish or some other such nonsense. but at the end of the day rugby is exactly what it is a mans game of immense skill
