Hurling final-Irelands most watched sporting event

The hurling final ALWAYS ghas a bigger audience as it is a better sport.

Last year after the Tyrone V Down game I did ask how anyone could watch Gaelic football. It seems I was preaching to the converted.

Naturally enough being a hurling fan it's great to see it getting that sort of coverage. It's good to see any irish sports getting coverage (even if I'm not the biggest fan of them personally ie. the way gaelic football has evolved).

It would seem that handball would get more exposure on an international front than it gets nationally, also I think ladies football is getting more and more popular, did i even hear at some stage that they were looking to put it forward as a demonstration sport in the olympics at some stage??

if hurling was a world wide sport it would be unreal. imagine the standard of games if people played hurling for a living.
its some sport just not for the faint hearted

What about Kildare v Down pat, it was unreal. We've seen some stinkin hurling matches too like.

Great news about the hurling. Has great potential to be spread and marketed around the world, alot more so than football given its uniqueness. I say this as someone who would be more football orientated.

One thing that annoys me on these threads though are the people who turn it into a 'football v hurling' debate. It's incredibly small minded, with a bit of vision both sports could and should flourish side by side.

The heartbeat of the nation?

It's a fantastic sport and last year's final was just incredible. Some hurling folk have a superiority complex though. True, last year's final was the best match in Gaelic Games but I must admit personally that it was getting a bit boring watching Kilkenny annihilate all before them. Don't get me wrong - the skills they displayed were a sight to behold, I'm just talking about the fact that I'd rather see evenly contested matches.

Stands to reason. Hurling is more attractive to watch!
