Fine Gael and the GAA

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Good to see the GAA putting out a statement about GAA members using their membership to further their political ambitions. There has been far too much cosy chuminess between certain GAA people and Fine Gael this past while. It is not on!

I take your point re County Chairmen etc being Fine Gael, but it is nauseting to have seen Garret Fitzgerald, (whom we had faith in) toadying up with thather Brutun standing for photocall with the Unionists, and being as one with them, then for Enda Kenny to make the same trip. If things go as they appear to be going, we Nationalists will be back in the doldrums for another 20 yrs with even less chance of Jobs and Social Justice than we ever had. The Unionists will milk this for all its worth and will make use of it. I know that for people not on the receiving end of partition can be hard to put into context with their day to day lives, but the small morsel of Social Justice that has been won for us will be wiped away with Enda Kenny being the next Taoisech

Tell u sumthing people might give out about fianna fail and the state of the economy but if fianna gael were in power for the last 14 years there would have being no good friday agreement and peace in the north because fine gael would never sit down and talk with sinn fein and were always pandering to the unionists over the years instead of playing hard ball with them, suppose this goes back to the traditional ties with the church of ireland(anglo-irish) etc...
