, your comments are kind of ridiculous to say the least and you either don't know or remember what happened with David Humphries in the last WC?

I know what happened Dan Carter in the last world cup but he is still the best I have seen.

barry John, most creative and pure magic, but Carter for all round game.

Just as well he is not Irish, the Munster mafia would have had him hounded after the last world cup and he would have been thrown overboard.

In fairness, you dont have to be from Munster to know Sexton isnt ready for rugby at this Level.

What does Paddy Wallace have to do to get dropped from the panel? After last week both Fitzgerald and Wallace were probably looking at ommission. Fitz went but Wallace instead of McFAdden is a scandal. McFAdden was great against France and then got dropped altogether off the match day 22. Beggers belief. Shades of the last world cup year (2007) begining to appear. I hope we don't flop again because we don't have the panel of players to cope with the rigours of the world cup.

Sure didn't Sexton play a key role in beating England in Twickenham last year. Set up two tries and controlled the game if I remember correctly. When I read some of the Munster posts its easy to see that Cleopatra wasn't the only Queen of Denial!!!!! :)

To be fair i've been pretty scathing of Sexton, but did think he would be given the start this week. Earls in at fullback not really a suprise, better option than Fitzgerald and i'm not going over old ground with Duffy again. Glad to see Trimble back in.

Time to get behind the lads and hopefully we prove people wrong this weekend (myself included).

Come on Ireland!!!!!!!!

Breffni any time he has played he hasn't been good. When he comes on as a sub he never seems to be able to change a game. I rest my case. There are better player around than Wallace in my opinion who have showed thay can perform on the day.

There's merit for calling for his inclusion ahead of Darcy, but having him as the "utilityback" on the bench is pointless. He can only cover 10 or 12, and we already have a 10 on the bench. McFadden, or even Fitz would at least be able to cover wing/fullback, with the ability to move Bower to 12/13 if there's an injury in there.

Wallace won't get the start at 12 because he's too lightweight.
O'Gara tackles like a wet tissue, and although Sexton is better defensively, it's in the same way that it's safer to drive after 20 pints than 21!
Playing Wallace beside them would leave a large channel to be attacked, and so it's always a big risk to start him at 12.

If England win the Grand Slam, with a team that most casual rugby fans aren't even too familiar with, it will bring the 6 Nations competition into disrepute. It's vital that Ireland win this game, to restore some credibility to the 6 nations championship, and to salvage the pride of 'rugby country'.

It has been a totally mediocre 6 nations at best, certainly one that has failed to spark in any game I have seen. England will be crowned 6 nation champions on Saturday, regardless of the result in the Aviva, champions based on the fact that they have 'erred' less that the other 5 nations. Simply put, the standard of rugby played has been so poor that we might as well decline our world cup invitation and tell the tri-nations to decide it among themselves. I would be interested to see the stats but the handling errors, knock ons, forward passes, missed tackles just seem to be prevalent this season, and thats only citing the Irish example, basic, basic stuff that we cant do with an degree of proficiency. The table seldom lies and we are where we are because we deserve to be, but having said that I still feel we have enough quality to beat England on Saturday nite to paper over the cracks, that is providing we keep our error count to a reasonable level!

This is probably a mad thought but could there have been a certain amount of kidology involved in this 6 nations due to the World Cup being on the radar. The only team who really seamed up for it are the English and the Italians.

France have been their usual unpredicatable charismatic selves, the welsh have hardly fired, same with us and i think the Jocks have just been poor.

Maybe i'm just tryign to convince myself come September it's all going to come together, we'll walk over the Aussies and Italy and somehow make it further than a quarter final.........

Nothing wrong with a bit of mad mental thinking though!!!!!!!

I'm more worried about finding pubs open at stupid o'clock to see the games. I'm sure our first two games (albeit against the Yanks and the Russkies) are 6 o'clock jobs. and if we do make it through to a 1/4 final i think the way it's sheduled we will be in a 6.30 slot........ Not good........I'll be hammered before mass!!!!!!!!

I hope O'Driscoll and the team don't let England and Johnston bully them before and during the game. The time when John Bull offended and disrespected Mary McAleese was a total national embarrassment as the Irish players stood back and let it happen.
